I agree with Oct. 12 review. You have to read the first three books to make sense of this one. The story is roughly strung together, choppy. It did not grab me like the first three books. I really do not care about any subsequent ones.

I just want to know who the heck King is?! Overall this was a great book. I think Max and Hope are my fave couple. Not really sure what the outtake at the end of the book was. I'm glad that we got to know more about the mysterious boys in the woods. I can't wait till the next book, I just hope we can finally know who king is!

Elaine Levine - Twisted Mercy – Max & Hope (Red Team Series - Book 4) I am excited to learn more about Max Cameron (Mad Dog) and his back ground. As usual, Ms. Levine tells her reader’s where we left on in the previous installment, reminds us of what was going on, so we are ready to begin the new book. Max’s background begins 10 years ago, when he was in prison for hacking Wall Street. He served 5 terrible long years of his 27-year sentence and then the Red Team recruited him. Max is now a season Red Team Operative and is under cover at the motorcycle club of the white supremacist prison gang he knew from prison. Then Hope Townsend came on the scene as a highly skilled Motorcycle mechanic. Hope is at the White Kingdom Brotherhood motorcycle club because she believes that her brother may be there. She has been looking for him for years after her mother was murdered and she is willing to risk the dangerous supremacists to find him. She knows they are drug runners, murderers and worse. Max must protect Hope in this terrifying place, even though she doesn’t think she needs protecting. As Max tries to help Hope with some of her clues for her brother, he knows that he must protect Hope AND his heart. Max and Hope both feel the desire and passion they have for each other. Will they give into their desires or will they be caught by the “club” and be killed?

The mystery continues and intensifies. Twisted Mercy is that book in the series that adds more question to your piles and also connects the pieces of the puzzle in a way that leaves you hungry for more and then some. The book flows in perfect rhythm with the uniqueness and personal demons of each teammate, and their adjustment to a new team member, a female who is bringing some heat to a hot summer. We discover crucial information about how the Red Team's modus operandi used to be in the early years, and how it affected Max Cameron's life in a devastating way. The team just starts to scratch the surface of the overwhelming power that the mysterious King holds in his hands. Is he a man? A myth? A group? The only thing for sure is that King has spiderwebs everywhere and that war is unavoidable. Nothing is as it seems and yet the dots keep twisting and connecting. Max is a passionate character that will warm your heart with his powerful emotions and his sweet roughness. Hope will enchant you with her inner beauty, determination and blind adoration towards a brother who she has desperately sought since she was a child. Lion, Hope's brother is a new key character that will be impossible not to love. I hope he gets his own book because he is worthy of it. Twisted Mercy is another brilliant book in a series as addictive, complex, intriguing, and suspenseful as the master mind who wrote it.

Amazing addition to the series! When this book came out, I went back and read the first three before getting in to this one, and it picked up exactly where the last one ended. It had a little bit of an abrupt ending, but wow - great story!!! I hope Kelan and Fee get their story soon! Can't wait for the rest of the series and to maybe find out who King is.

I have loved all of her books so far but this one seemed to be all over the place.  There were random bits and pieces of the other characters thrown in that seemed out of place.  I know she was trying to set up background for later books but it was just too random and just didn't flow smoothly for me.  About halfway into the book it turns into, "if you want my help then you'll spend the night  with me and participate in bondage".  This type of coercion is just not my cuppa.  If I know ahead of time that it's a bondage book then at least I have a preconceived notion about the type of Hero in the book and what to expect. I'm giving this book a generous 2 stars because there wasn't any chemistry between the characters imo.  The entire first half seemed forced and quite boring to be honest.  I have given up reading it for now but might come back later to finish it.  I will try the next book in the series since I enjoyed her other books.  Sorry but this was a miss for me.
