This is the first book I read by Little, and it was enough to draw me into reading all of his other works. As horror goes, it is pretty well written, and the ideas are original here (though be aware, Little explores the same ideas in many of his novels, so eventually they may seem repetitive if you've read quite a bit of his work). If you're looking for a new horror writer, Little's a good choice, this book in particular. It is simple, frightening, original, and the characters are sympathetic and believable.

Bentley Little has a knack for writing horror novels- if only they could be made into movies! "The University" is a tale about UC Brea; a college that is alive and trying to take human sacrafices to dominate the world! sounds like alien fiction, but its not. Its a great read, fun characters, grotesque and intense scenes that readers love. This is one horror novel that you do not want to miss out on. If you love Bentley little het your hands on this one! A++ for the University!

I'd never read Bentley Little before six months ago when my girlfriend suggested I give him a try (she's been a longtime fan and we own all of his books now). University was the second title that I read, and it was very good in that popcorn/straight-to-video kind of way. A small group of students and faculty at a California college combat an evil intelligence that is preying on human weakness and debauchery to gain strength to become...something more. Interesting concept, carried out well; more of a series of very weird scenes drawn from Little's nightmares and put into book form. That being said, I'd recommend Little to any horror fan.
