I’ve never read a book quite like this. Between two centuries comparing how each lived in their own century and how Susanna was mistreated. It all sounded so real. I couldn’t put the book down

From the very beginning, this book drew me in. From the impeccable period details, to the suspense, and the absolutely adorable romance, Whisper Falls was a brilliant YA romance. I loved this book! It was deep, intriguing, and a truly enjoyable read. Loved it! The setting in this book was perfect. It was obviously well researched, with precise details and the author managed to present them in a way that drew me into the story. I really liked how both characters reacted to seeing the world outside of their time period. It was interesting and realistically done. The whole time-travel thing was very well done. Susanna was a wonderful heroine. She had a very difficult life, yet she stayed strong through it all. Even when her own safety was on the line, her first priority was taking care of her sister and the children of her master. She was very loyal and willing to fight for what she wanted. I thought she was lovely. Mark was also great. He was absolutely determined to help Susanna and keep her safe, even if he had to literally enter a different world. He was very sweet, clever, and totally adorable. I absolutely loved him. The romance was so sweet. Susanna and Mark were so lovely together and they made a great, two-century team. I thought they were a perfect couple. I can't wait to see how things turn out for them in the next book. The plot was well paced and I was totally drawn in the entire way through. This story didn't fly by, but instead went by steadily, with the details and characters keeping me immersed. The suspense of whether or not Susanna and Mark would succeed in their efforts to keep Susanna and her sister safe kept me hooked. I really enjoyed the story and I'm very excited to see what happens next. Can't wait for book 2! Whisper Falls was a fantastic YA romance. I absolutely loved this book! It was deep, thoughtful, suspenseful, and sweetly romantic. I enjoyed every bit of it. YA lovers, this is definitely a must read. *I received a complimentary copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review

If I'm being perfectly honest, I wasn't sure if I was going to like this book when I first saw it because I'm not big on historical novels. But I got an ARC at BEA, signed by Elizabeth, and I'm really glad I did because the story pulled me in from the first page. With Susanna living in 1796 and Mark living in 2016, there was a great balance between the past and the present. The only thing I thought was odd was that it isn't 2016 yet. ;) I would have preferred if the date matched the publication year, but that's just me.  Susanna is a young girl whose step-father basically sold her to another family to get rid of her. She works as a housemaid for the Pratts, cooking, cleaning, and taking care of their children, who she really comes to love. But her master, Mr. Pratt, is...well, he's a jerk. He beats Susanna for the littlest things, and I really wanted to punch him. Mark is a guy who is very focused on biking. He has a race coming up and he trains really hard for it. Biking sort of saved him in a way because he used to be overweight and have no self-confidence. Biking got him in shape and his confidence boosted. One day, while on a bike ride, he sees Susanna through Whisper Falls. The two talk and quickly realize they are from different times. A friendship evolves and they begin to meet at the falls as often as Susanna can manage without getting caught by Mr. Pratt. Mark looks into what happens to Susanna's town, because it doesn't exist anymore, and he finds out about Susanna's future, which isn't good. Mark has to go to 1796 to help her, but when he's spotted, more problems arise. I won't tell you what happens, but I'll say that this is a great read. I'll definitely be reading more of Langston's work in the future.
