Chapter One

Ah, such is life

We begin to grow old at birth. We grow physically until the age of thirteen at which time we are declared men/women. Not adults, but still responsible for our actions. For five years we are instructed on the aspects of responsibility, We fail !!! At eighteen we are granted by the state the opportunity to play ( yes play ) adult. For the next eleven years we begin searching for ourselves. We will find religion, loose it. Look for ourselves politically, realize its folly. Seek our social and philosophical being, become confused. Finally at age thirty we realize that the me in men is our fortitude. That the individual in you is what leads to success. That the search experienced by us all was a crucial time. Wisdom comes from within and yes, "youth is wasted on the young," Who said that first

Mom, the Principal Called

Blank faces, smiling faces,
What is it they want to know?
Progress, regress, have to dress,
Will they be willing to grow.
The mind is a splendid, delicate organ
With capacity unknown.
But man is a stubborn, self-centered being
Teenage years spent on the phone.
Education can be a foreign term
Why life itself is a school.
Homework is an unfair labor practice
You don't weld at home as a rule.
So teachers battle misconceptions
Coming from bosses, the students, the major.
Babying sitting, insulting
Feeding division in time of no prayer.
The learning process should induce joy
If its to duplicate life.
Unfortunately we grade our children
Introducing unknown forms of strife.
Places ... Dates ... Organs ... Rates
Trivial when leading to success.
Our children need challenged
Not badgered, never subject to duress.
So the educational process has faultered,
We look for those to blame.
But attitudes are their skipper
And those continue to be the same!

If Joe leaves Chicago traveling 60 mph, and Jim leaves an hour later traveling 70 mph. When will Jim catch Joe? Never if he's got two kids in the Back seat. Now ask, Joe just bought two 100 watt Infinity speakers. He's got a 12 volt power source. How much current will the speakers draw and does your source meet capacity needs. Finally, what size speaker wire will Joe need? Real life algebra!!

A Breath of Fresh Air

The sweet suttle fragrance of the universe is at my feet. I see the flight of the swan, the beauty of the trees, the coolness of the slow moving crystal blue stream. The bees make their honey, the flowers are at full blossom. This is a poets dream, a romantecist would be on his knees wispering the deep desires of his loving world. I weep for its everlasting beauty.

The towering forest umbellas my humble life. For my acheivments are so meek in natures distinguished hall. She makes the artist shine, the musician to sing for joy, and places the writer in utter awe, attempting to pass on to tomorrows child the message of his world. Nature is the key to are future and the window that shows us are past. It is Now.

Mount Ranier

While umbrellaed beneath earths flowing trees,
I perchance did see,
A mountain, snow capped
That moved my heart
And set my mind at ease.

Setting amongst the sightly Cascades
The mountain does seem to speak,
Tell of life years beyond
And of those who were to weak.

Who knows what power lies beneath
The mountain ranking first,
That awakens to feed the lower lakes
And quenches nature thirst.

It is the father of the valleys
Mother to the streams,
And a God amongst the people
Who perchance do sit and dream.

You're a poet! Those words were first spoken to me by Mrs. William Bartholomew(Helen). Living Outside Edwardsville, Washington their home presented me this view of Mount Ranier. I felt compelled to put it in words. I forever thank Her.

Judgment

Communication is what brings us together, unfortunately it can lead to separation.

Strange how life is. What seems right for one individual can be judged as harmful for an entire society by another. How do we determine who is right?

Do you think forgiveness is a universal truth? Read that again! The great religions and philosophers all talk as if it's a forgone believe that we all practice. Seven times seventy I am to forgive an individual. A person would have to wrong me on a monthly basis before I stop forgiving him. Now, do the supreme beings, that most believe in, follow the same rule? And if not, Why? And if they do, then we will all meet in another time, free of guilt. I don't understand excommunication by the various sects. It seems to go against this precept that we all are suppose to live by. Who amongst us, speaks for their god? Could say that their God has deemed one unworthy of his love and forgiveness. "Judge not unless you be judged."

Guidance

Traces of light between the seams
Audio blaring, rattling the beams.
Odors unknown, except for a few
My God man, I thought you knew.

My teenage years have passed me by
But a son is there, Is he getting high?
I recognize the symptoms, affects and such
But from this..have I made to much.

Is control the goal of every man
Children to mold, so I understand.
Difficulty follows parents from start to end
The question is, "When do boys become men?"

We all have the answers now and then
But when does guidance stop and lattitude begin.
Ageless children grow up, inflict pain
Stop, then wonder, "Would I do that again."

Encouragement, Understanding
Do you remember those years
Were you not the one ...
Who Drove Your Parents To Tears!

With that in mind, smile and take heed
Love is all that our children do need.

No, I'm not saying its okay for our kids to smoke marijuana, but I bet most of you tried it !!

I shall at no time introduce you to one statistic to sway you to my way of thinking

Lets first get our minds on the same wavelength. Man as a whole are followers. Many of us follow blindly, never asking 'WHY', simply because we are content as things are. ( Take off the blinders). We have our color television sets, probably more than one so that we can follow whatever from room to room, our automobiles, a multitude of recreational facilities, our stereos, our large power consuming homes, kids, and friends that exist the same way as we do and for a few, a loving, loyal mate. Now what more could one ask for, other than the endless curse of having to work a lifetime of forty hour weeks to keep all these luxuries just working and up to date. Why do we know all this? Because that television set, that we center are living room around, has informed us that this is the way mankind exist. So in no short terms, we exist the way we do because the TV has informed us about everything we know about ourselves. We have implanted in our homes a messanger to the working class. It informs us on the proper way to exist, of our goals, leads us through any rough spots with a number of TV psychologists, and has a multitude of actors and actresses that will demonstrate the whole concept of what is right and wrong literally, legally, and morally. It has total control of our emotions. It shows us why not to be poor, why to be rich, what it takes to be a leader and how to become one. This tool of theirs is on the verge of swallowing mankind. How do they make it in Upper Mongolia?

The Routine

Up by six on the road by seven
Trying to earn my trip to heaven
My bones get sore, my back aches to beat hell
The boss says I can break for a spell
A half hour for lunch, ten minutes to rest
I'll soon be home, my wife to caress
The same routine day in and day out
Up by six on the round by seven
All this for a trip to heaven

It seems so crazy to waste away like this,
Their must be an easier way to exist.
Life may not be all fun and play
But it sure ain't work, the same every day
So you get up by six, get on road by seven
You earn your trip to heaven
Me, I'll rot in Hell;
Just for a spell.

Lets guess, how many of you get up each morning telling yourself, today I wish I could quit this all consuming job?

Work, work, work, work, work, work, work, work, work, work, work, work: doesn't it say idle hands leads to work, work, work, wait, someone has to make me a TV.

The Automobile

Please, will someone explain this devise to me. Its convenience is understandable, I mean, it sure beats going to the store by horse and buggy. But when is something better coming to save this world? Why aren't all our R&D funds going into something that won't kill our kids and grandchildren? Its nonsense. The automobile now is the most expensive curse ( I will not call it a luxury ) for in its behalf we have constructed a vast number of factories that steal the worlds natural resources and pollute the air and rivers. They also have managed to keep the majority of us working so we can turn around and pay for the privilege to drive back and forth to work. It's a vicious cycle led by what most of us call the establishment. Who the hell are these people that they are allowed to control such a large sector of society? Do they really believe that global warming is not occurring? Do You?

The Slowest Traveler

'Tis a wonderful machine
But death is her sence
Setting all alone inbedded with dents.
Two flat tires, covered with dust
Nine discolored windows and quite a lot of rust.

'Tis a wonderful machine
So full and so big.
Two bright lights to guide her at night
It's a shame she just sets, she's a beautiful sight.
She has no color, may it be black or brown,
Her chrome is so drab, she must of traveled around.
'Tis a wonderful machine
Could be a nineteen twenty nine.

Gangsters and cops, what adventures has she found
She has out lived her era
She travels slowly into mine.
'Tis a wonderful machine
She may one day be mine
'Tis a wonderful machine
May she travel always through time.

Some might say there is a contradiction between our discussion and the poem. I'm not saying to do away with the auto, just find a healthier way to power it.

Nikola Tesla

At the turn of the twentieth century this man was the most important person in the world. Look around you, all those toys and gadgets and the electricity used to power them are here today because of this man. His ultimate goal was to give power to the world free, yes free. But the capitalist of his era would have nothing to do with such a bizarre idea. Give something to the world free. But he looked at all his inventions the same way. His genius was a gift, so why not the fruits of his labors and he invented a lot. He could and should have been the riches man of his time, but he died dissolute, alone and forgotten. It would be on the scale of Bill Gates giving his windows format to us all free and us not thanking him or remembering his contribution. Such is the power of money and the contol it has on mankind. Intentional or not, through so many turn of events, it has happened. To say that we will get this disparity under control is laughable. But don't you wish there were more Nikola Tesla's in the world today. That greed wasn't such a strong emotion.

Give

Say good-bye to the home of parasites
Say hell-o to the land of "Give"
Travel with me to this wondrous place
Its not a race to this place where there is no race
But take place
In the happenings surrounding "Give"
And you will receive
More than you gave
You can learn to live in "Give"
So sleep easy in a home of peace and release
The evil tidings that have fallen on you
Don't be blue
Its true that it won't all come to soon
But croon a different tune at noon
For soon it will show light
Not to bright at first, but the thirst will burst
And you will prosper.
I think !!

How many of us have heard of this man? Now ask yourself.....Why Not?

Ridiculous

Recently there has been this uproar over the burning of the flag. Is it an expression of free speech or the desecration of a symbol that represents the American experience as a whole, needs to be protected by an amendment to our constitution. All I see when I think of the flag is the 59 thousand plus draped over the coffins of my soldiers in arms, my brothers that died for an unjust cause. What does the flag mean to them we ask? Will we be asking the same question as we drape the flag over the coffins of our sons and daughters, yes daughters, returning from our future conflicts?
