Just purchased, so not yet read, but totally disappointed that the contents do not allow one to navigate to particular stories, nor do the contents have page numbers, so if one wanted to read a particular story, one needs to search for it.

I'm also disappointed that the table of contents isn't linked. But I bought the book anyway, because for $2.99, I get 1918 pages of short stories, some of which are fairly unusual (Anthony Trollope in Bermuda). So I'll make it an adventure to read them one at a time, setting bookmarks as I go. The alphabetic listing creates an interesting reading variety. B&N: if you ever upgrade the TOC, please give us all a free fix.
