I'd love to sit around a campfire one autumn night listening to Garrison Keillor and Gerald Daniele swap stories. Mr. Daniele is now doing for New Jersey what Mr. Keillor does so quintessentially for Minnesota. Daniele is a natural born storyteller, expressing himself in essays and poetry with a winning blend of savvy, naiveté, and humor. His work somehow reminds me of classic folk songs whose tales unfold in leisurely verses without the artificial commercialized structures of mass-market pop. Daniele doesn't force formulaic structure on his stories but instead lets them unfold naturally. Their authentic voice holds a quiet magic, reawakening you to your own life stories and memories as you read...and keeping you smiling along the way. Daniele brings his everyday experiences to life in a way that inspires me to pay fresh attention to each day, and his sense of connecting with people and nature - and laughter - calls me back to what really matters most.
I met Gerald on a poetry website and was inspired by his poetry. Now that I have read his book, I would have to say that he has a great future as a writer of short stories. His tales are reminiscent of Mark Twain's Huckelberry Finn and Tom Sawyer. This book will appeal to all age groups. It is a book that will be treasured for a lifetime, and I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up on the New York Times bestseller list. A MUST BUY.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The author really loves life and finds humor in everything. He seems like a happy camper and the way he thinks is infectious. I Really liked the poetry and I re-read it many times. I'm tempted to buy his poetry book he mentions at the end of this book. New talent.
