100 Wicked Little Witch Stories

View All Available Formats & Editions

The witches who populate these 100 delightfully scary stories include practitioners of white witchcraft and devotees of black magic. Most are female, some are male, and a few are thoroughly unclassifiable. They can be born witches or made witches, and may mix simple love potions or volatile concoctions that threaten all we hold dear. Some resent not receiving the treatment they feel they deserve from lesser mortals; yet other witches don't even realize that they wield any special influence at all. The many writers who take on this ever-fascinating character (so fundamentally human unlike her more paranormal, ghostly brethren) include Juleen Brantingham ("Burning in the Light"), Joe R. Landsdale ("By the Hair of the Head"), Simon McCaffery ("Blood Mary"), Terry Campbell ("Retrocurses"), Lawrence Shimel ("Coming Out of the Broom Closet"), and a coven of others.

WOW! I am an avid reader, and when I came across this book I was doubtful it would be worth reading because of the low price...Was I Wrong!!! Numerous short stories arranged in a very smooth reading order. Some very haunting some hysterically funny. These stories range throughout the sprectrum. Short and to the point(ed hat) very enjoyable. Some show surprising sophistication, but all are tightly written. Good plotting and dialogue without the existential stuff that leaves you wondering whast was going on. Definitely well worth the money, it will be a keeper in my collection!

wicked little stories indeed! and short. quick read, couldn't put it down. some stories were very surprising (scarily so) and some just made me guffaw out loud because i didn't see it coming. some are typical witch stories: old crone w/wart and hooked nose; some witches are less apparent. great, super

In a mix of urban fantasy and horror these are short shorts with an average of 6 pages per story some are longer and some are shorter. They're a good mix and I enjoyed most of them.

A Really Good Book. You don't have to read it all at once. I've had the book for a little over a year, and I'll read some bits of it whenever.
