I love names, and this book has one hundred thousand of them! I really enjoyed the beginning section of fun statistics of names, and just the sheer number of names. One thing I would change though, would to to omit the name variants after each name, in favor of pronunciations. I would rather know how to correctly pronounce a name, than know all the made-up nick-names for it. I still enjoy it and use it for reference, but I also need to get a second names book for pronunciations.

Very good book to start with when trying to determine what name to choose, however, there are lots of names in the book that are duplicates which if they're really talking about 100,000 is a stretch.
But, good place to start

Great to figure out what to name you child and what each name means.

This book was awsome! Since we have 5 children (Opal, Delaney, Christoper, Hannah, and Marty). We had no idea what to name our next baby girl. So my husband and I chose Vanessa. I hope you like it.

This is a great baby name book in that it is not only vast it's also an interesting read! There are facts about names and various blurbs about others naming their babies and interesting 'and unfortunate' names. This book has lists of most common names of various decades and you can see where the name you picked ranked in popularity the last few years. We had perused many baby name books, but this is the one that we liked the most. Honestly, they all pretty much have the same names, right?! This book puts a nice spin and new perspective on an exciting, sometimes frustrating, time of our lives that is heavy with the responsibility in giving a child the perfect name. We used this book when selecting names for our twins and I definitely recommend this one!

Alright, this is done by the same author that did The Very Best Baby Name Book. Even though it offers more names... this one is 100,000 and the other is only 30,001... still wouldn't recommend. The only difference really is he added a ton of unusual names... like Clotario. Spare yourself!

There are quite literally 100,000 baby names contained in this book; however, I was very disappointed to find that the vast majority of these names are highly ordinary and overused. Names such as 'Amy, Joe, Sam and Jack.' The definitions and origins of the names are informative and enjoyable, though.

This book is burdened by too many names that are ridiculous, as opposed to just unusual or unique. In addition, all nicknames are listed separately and without definitions, which made the index cumbersome and nearly impossible to navigate on my ereader. I would not recommend it.

While I was looking through this name filled book my husband and I were deciding what to name our soon to be daughter. As many moms know it is a very hard thing to do. My husband and I are very excited that we found a name with the help of this book. Our daughter's name will soon be Adelaide Grace Lavelle and we think ot is a gorgeous name. OUR DAUGHTER IS EXPECTED TO BE BORN ON DECEMBER 25!!!

I purchased the nook book that cost .99. I wish I looked better because it was not the "100,000 + Baby Names: The Most Complete Baby Name Book" , it was called "Baby Name Trend Report: Insight from the top-selling baby name author (eBook)". Waste of my time and dollar, when all I had to do was search the internet for that information. Wish that the actual book popped up as the nook book. It was only 35 pages long.

This book is helpful from a writer's point of view if you are naming your characters, but from a parent attempting find a fitting name for their child it leaves something to be desired. It has more repeats than original names, skips quite a number of popular foreign names (if that's your thing) and would be great benefited by eliminating spelling variations (if you're going to change the spelling of the name chances are you can figure it out on your own) in favor of a pronunciation guide. All in all it is fun to flip through but I won't be using it as an actual reference to name my little one on the way.
