I enjoyed the collection of stories in this latest "1001 Dark Nights" anthology. Bundle five contains six novellas that are a combination of paranormal, mythological and contemporary romances. While some were familiar in name, I had not read any of the authors in this volume, so all of the authors were new to me. One major factor that influences my evaluation of a story is how well I connect to the author’s writing style, and even though not all of the stories in this anthology were in my preferred genre, I was able to engage in the each one because I liked the author’s writing. The characters were well-developed and interesting, and each story was compelling in its own unique way. One of the stand-out novellas for me in this anthology was "Adored" by New York Times Bestselling Author Lexi Blake. A Contemporary Romance with a BDSM backstory, Adored has a sexy alpha hero and steamy erotic scenes. Another favorite was written by newcomer Michelle St. James. "The Sentinel" is a contemporary romance about two childhood friends, who, as adults, find themselves secretly attracted to the other. The twist is that one of them is keeping a dark secret that threatens to destroy any potential connection. I admit that my preferred genre is contemporary romance, which is clearly evidenced by my two stand-out favorites. However, that in no way discounts the other stories in the anthology. It’s merely a matter of preference, and "1001 Dark Nights" definitely has something for eve.
