Loved this book and I'm not surprised it's on the bestseller lists I was struck by the author's motivation for writing the book and the unique and sincere way she imparts her information. The author has respect for the reader and their desire for better nutrition and health and it shines through in the text. Each chapter is written simply and makes a point. I found the information to be in line with most of the recent recommended studies, especially the chapter on fat intake. Some of it is common sense. I think a lot of us score high on a nutrition test. We know what to do, we just don't do it. This is a well-written book that is for someone who doesn't want follow nutrition fads. It's eye-opening, contains solid information and I found it to be a useful guide to putting together my own program of better health. I would recommend this book if you're looking to make a healthful nutritional plan just for you. It's odd but I felt like this book was written especially for me. It's that customized.

I have read many books on diet and exercise and most are all the same. This one is unique and so enlightening. It has so much information in it and was a breeze to read. We are all so busy with hectic lives with work and family and barely enough time for much else. It has become too easy to grab some fast food, and we all know there are many additives in it.   This book takes the reader step by step on what to eat, how much to eat and when to eat. But it is not just about dieting; it covers every aspect of our lives. It gave me many ideas and reminders that some things are not as important as we make them and other things need more attention. Living a full and happy life is not always easy but it is possible and worth the work to get there.   As a mother and wife, it is natural for me to focus more on my family. And I admit I put my own wants and needs on the back burner. But this book showed me I can not help them if I am not on my own road to happiness and inner peace.  I love the silliness of the book and it gave me many smiles. But also opened my eyes and my mind to the path I need to be on to live life to the fullest.  Lynne Dorner is dedicated to helping others and she truly inspired me. I recommend this book to everyone, it is a must read. And share the secrets, they are simple but perfection.

Refreshing View of Nutrition 101+ Secrets from Nutrition School is an enlightening experience in which the author and health coach Lynne Dorner shares the most essential lessons she learned along her educational journey at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. Struck by the fact that only about one-fifth of medical schools teach nutrition or lifestyle changes as a way to prevent or manage disease, Lynne became inspired to share her secrets with others looking to make positive life changes.  I enjoyed that this book had more than straight up nutrition tips but was more of small lifestyle change tips that are easy to apply in every day life. Dorner stresses the point that nutrition is more than eating right, it is managing the aspects that affect the overall health of mind and body. One secret I will try to use to live a healthier and more wholesome lifestyle is the 80/20 rule. Eat healthy 80% of the time and eat what you crave 20% of the time. I feel that diets can be so constricting that they cause to people to lose interest and be frustrated when it doesn't work for their body type. This book was a refreshing view of nutrition that anyone can learn from and be able to find something to apply in everyday life.

Reviewed by Ashley Tetzlaff for Readers' Favorite In her book, 101+ Secrets From Nutrition School That You Need To Know, Lynne Dorner shares her knowledge garnered from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, a year-long online course on clean eating and healthy thought patterns. Each “secret” has its own page, making it easy to jump around here and there in the book or read straight through. Dorner shares insights on a variety of topics from exercise to organic eating choices, weight management to positive thinking patterns, dealing with headaches to clean recipes, etc. Filled with fun illustrations and easy-to-read text, this book is sure to inspire without getting bogged down in wordy intellectualism. Wow! I loved 101+ Secrets From Nutrition School That You Need To Know from the start! The illustrations are such fun and keep the book feeling light and for the common man (as opposed to a heavy textbook written for health geeks). Lynne Dorner’s style is delightful and very engaging. I laughed my way through this book while picking up some great insights and ideas on healthy eating, thinking and living. It is the sort of book you don’t just read once, but over and over again. And not just read, but put into practice. Think of it, for a couple of bucks you can get a condensed version of what Lynne learned in a year of school. As a quick read, you can pick up lots of good concepts. As a meditate-on-and-do book, it has the potential to be a life changer (or so it seems to this girl!). Pick up little things like “Your waist should be half the length of your height” or “Drink half your body weight (in ounces) a day” or “Aim to eat 80/20 – 80% healthy foods, 20% whatever foods” or … you get the picture. Highly recommended!

Reviewed by Jack Magnus for Readers' Favorite 101+ Secrets from Nutrition School That You Need to Know is a health and wellness book written by Lynne Dorner. Dorner is a certified holistic health coach whose completion of her coursework at Integrative Nutrition led to profound changes in her and her son's health. In this book, she presents a number of easily accessible ways for readers to get healthy and stay motivated. Some are common sense, like cutting down on sugars, while others present new strategies that can dispel the feeling that getting healthy means self-deprivation, such as the 80/20 plan. Dorner's book is also filled with references to allow readers to follow up on ideas that are intriguing. Lynne Dorner's health and wellness book, 101+ Secrets from Nutrition School That You Need to Know, is one of those books you'll want to keep around the house for a bit of motivation whenever your spirits are flagging. It's chock-full of inspirational ideas for getting healthy, and most of them are pretty simple to put into practice. Her very first secret: "What works for me may not work for you" is something everyone who's ever watched a skinny person demolishing the buffet may find some minor comfort in, but the wealth of details following that first secret show how easy it can be to turn around anyone's diet, fitness level and life -- without life-shattering alterations or misery. I loved reading about Dorner's long-lived grandfather and his advice to mellow out with a drink at four. I also enjoyed her perceptive take on GMO foods, factory-farm meats, and fruits and vegetables that must always be organic (the dirty dozen). This book can get you started and will provide lots of encouragement along the way. 101+ Secrets from Nutrition School That You Need to Know is highly recommended.

Reviewed by Viga Boland for Readers' Favorite What a delightful read 101+ Secrets from Nutrition School by Lynne M. Dorner is! I came to this book with no knowledge of its contents, but I was curious what more I could possibly learn about nutrition than I already know at 69 years of age. Well, to my surprise, I did learn a few new things. And to my further surprise, I realized that, despite the title, 101+ Secrets from Nutrition School was about a lot more than just what I put in my mouth! As a certified holistic health coach, Lynne Dorner is interested in feeding the whole person ie. not just physically, but mentally and spiritually. She realizes, and puts across to her readers in a joyous, almost light-hearted way, that good health is possible when the mind, heart and body are working together well, and imbalance in one can throw the entire being off balance.  Using simple illustrations and lots of humor in neat, short chapters, Lynne drives home what we need to know about eating healthily, reminding us that fat is good for us too, despite the rap it's taken over the past 30 years; that we can fill our plates to the brim...as long as it's with the right foods...that we need exercise and oxygen; that we should buy our fruits and veggies from local farmers where possible; that we need to be wary of what's on and in the foods we buy in the supermarkets; and that when we're reading labels, what to look for. Nothing new there? You'll be surprised what Lynne Dorner shares that you perhaps didn't know e.g. our brains resemble walnuts, a cut carrot our eyes, tomatoes our hearts, kidney beans our kidneys and so on. Mother Nature knew what she was doing when she designed those organs to remind us of what's good for us.  And when Lynne Dorner is done turning a few food nutrition myths upside down, she moves in on that other nutrition, the one that feeds the soul and mind: meditation, breathing, relaxation, doing what you love and loving what you do. Towards the end of 101+ Secrets from Nutrition School, Lynne Dorner advises us to look in the mirror and see the most beautiful person in the world: ourselves. No, her advice here isn't new, but if you keep 101+ Secrets from Nutrition School in a handy spot, you can remind yourself daily, and quickly, of those things we need to remember as we begin each day. You'll love it.

This book pleasantly surprised me, it was not all food related as I had expected it to be, although it does include lots of great valuable food and body information, it is also a focus on bringing a balance to all parts of your life so you feel 'whole' again and are achieving what you really want.  I believe that things happen for a reason, fate, which is why the chance of reading this now happened when I totally needed it.  If your looking for wellbeing and balance to your life in general, this is a great place to start.  The author prompts you to ask What one thing I can do for my health today?  Through her own journey and experiences she shares a vast amount of important facts, sometimes eye openers, industry secrets, other principles and beliefs and things you had not even thought about.  Explaining that we can achieve much more in the long run by doing change in small easy steps so we keep the motivation that we had in the beginning. This was a very easy book to follow and understand, there was a nice tone with some humor to the writing with fun pictures throughout to extenuate the facts.  I made notes of the facts I really wanted to focus on and I will definitely be reading and re-reading this over and over again as I continue to improve my own 'wellbeing'. On the first food shopping trip with my husband while reading the book I was actively looking for more natural local grown food, comparing the number of ingredients in products (was there more than 5!!), pointing out all these to the husband and I found myself holding back from some of the items I would normally buy.  I remember thinking as I was walking around the store to myself  'The author would be proud." As the author says, "Put your heart into it and enjoy the ride!"
