About the Author

Patricia Hegarty began working in children's publishing more years ago than she cares to remember and is now Editorial Director at Caterpillar Books. As an editor, she has worked on titles ranging from atlases to animal pop-ups, craft kits to crazy mazes, and sticker books to secret diaries.

Summer Macon was raised in an itty bitty town of Southern NM. As a child, she quickly became known as "Tiger" as this is how she would sign her homework next to the many doodles covering their pages. She has decided to now go by her real name and lives in an even smaller itty bitty town (population 32) in beautiful Colorado. In the summertime you can find her rock climbing, mountain biking, or doodling on her contracts.

PreS-K—A board book on thankfulness in the guise of counting book. "1 little thank-you can go a long, long way. And 'one' thank-you kiss can make somebody's day." Adorable cartoon animals including perennial favorites—elephant, penguin, bunny, giraffe, lion, and bear—demonstrate the loving gestures in charming vignettes. The color palette is of calming pastels with several babies' room variations on pink, blue, and green. Page designs vary, keeping things interesting, as does the rhyming text with a pleasant lilt when read out loud. The things to count are occasionally unconventional, inviting further conversation: arms for hugging, a kiss, friends, stars, colors, food, seedlings, and two eyes for the "precious gift of sight."
