About the Author

Tammie Painter grew up in the creative world of Portland, Oregon, and she continues to call the City of Roses home. Although she spent years working as a chemist in a behavioral neuroscience research lab, she could never quite tame her desire to express herself through words and images. When circumstances provided her the chance to pursue an artistic career, she seized it and has never looked back.

As a writer, Tammie not only shows off her kitchen and garden skills in her non-fiction, but also has a passion for delving into and bringing life to history and mythology in her novels. She has been the recipient of numerous awards for her short stories and essays and has written hundreds of articles for local, national, and international magazines as well as the Internet.

As an artist, Tammie's love of nature shines through in her botanical and wildlife art, but that doesn't stop her from exploring other subjects such as the shiny curve of a car or a peek into the streets of Europe. Whatever she chooses to draw or paint, Tammie's work is characterized by its attention to realistic details and strong colors. In 2016, Tammie had to honor of being selected for a solo exhibition as part of the Artist Exhibit Program via the Clackamas County Arts Alliance.

Tammie plans to release Book Three of The Osteria Chronicles in 2016.

I usually don't read fiction but this I really liked. The stories were varied in the type of suspense/horror. To me these stories seem like a cross between Twilight Zone and Alfred Hitchcock. If you like baby elephants, you will appreciate one story, and with another story, you may never pick up a quarter off the ground again.

I love reading short stories because I rarely have the motivation for a full-length novel. These stories are some of the most unique and entertaining I have read--wide variety of story types, some about animals, quirky love stories, some more in the horror range without the gore. I especially loved the ones the author took a myth or mythical figure and gave it a new twist, such as "Hermes" which was my favorite.

Nice collection of stories. Runs the gamut from sweet to scary with plenty of weird and funny stories mixed in. Unlike some short story collections where each story seems to be about the same tone and style, I really never knew what to expect as I started a new page in this book - and i mean that in a good way! People who like stories by Henry James, Stephen King and Poe should enjoy this collection.
