17 Marigold Lane was a great 5 star read and book one in the Prudence Penderhaus series. My heart was squeezed and I got teary eyed fairly quickly after I started this book. My heart went out to Prudence. Not only has she received some very heartbreaking news, but she endures bullying while on her way to school. This is something that has been an everyday thing for her. She decides she has nothing to lose and goes up to the supposed haunted house that everyone is afraid to go to. There are rumors of a coffin in the living room along with other spooky things. When she knocks on the door an unexpected person comes to the door, someone she never expected to meet, a boy her age. Cassius has never been out in the world. As he gets to know Prudence she convinces him to go outside with her. When Cassius starts to do inappropriate things Prudence feels responsible for him. There are several more unexpected twists and we find out some secrets that were thought long buried away. Overall I really enjoyed this book. Prudence is a very strong young lady, that has gone through a lot. Cassius tugged at my heart strings and he had a great connection with Prudence. These two made my heart smile. I will warn that you may need kleenex, my heart broke for the things that Cassius went through. R.M. Gilmore pulled me right in, I can’t wait to read more from this series.

17 Marigold Lane (Prudence Penderhaus Book 1) by R.M. Gilmore 5+++++++ Stars How is this my first book by this author?? An author who had me like completely hooked from page 1 of this book. There was a time while reading I was tripping over the words I was reading so fast, I wasn't skimming because you can't while reading this and you don't want to..it was quite a struggle there for a bit and I felt in some ways like I was literally in the story, like right next to Prudence, who by the way became my hero in this book. I don't care how old she was, I wanted to be her! Well, her in every way except for her health struggles. This was an Awesomely brilliant story, I loved every word and even all the unanswered questions that Im left with because it gives me something to look forward to in the next of this series. There were a few lines in this book that I loved but the one Id never heard before that literally cracked me up was “as dumb as chewing gum while eating oreos” Not sure why that got to me so much but it did and Ive used it now in my real life a few times LOL I haven't even mentioned Cassius yet...I love this odd boy, I just want to hug him and squeeze him and protect him forever. I can not wait for more, truly I will be straight up stalking this author!!! One of my favorite reads so far this year! LOVED LOVED LOVED IT!!!!

17 Marigold Lane (Prudence Penderhaus Book 1) by R.M. Gilmore was an intriguing, emotional read, that had me hooked and reading into the wee hours. Wow, this book was something I tell you. I started reading it a little later in the evening thinking, I'll read a few chapters before I go to bed. Well it's almost 2 in the morning, so yeah, you can say that was a reading fail on my part. I couldn't put this book down, I kept trying, but my mind would not let it go, and sleep wouldn't not come. So I kept flipping the pages to unravel the mystery, and I just had to know more about Cassius and Prudence. I will say that the start was a little slow, for me, but that didn't put me off because the writing and tone was hooking, and Cassius was such an interesting well written character that I had to know more about his situation. Research and care went into his development, and it made him such a realistic character, that I wanted to protect him just as much as Prudence. Speaking of, at first I wasn't a fan of hers, no that's not right. I wasn't a fan of how she was presented. The author kept repeating at first that Pru wasn't anything special, and all that normal YA jazz, so that threw me off. But once Pru's true character got revealed, I was on board, and frankly, she's probably the best YA character I think I ever read about. I'm glad the author quickly moved away from that typical cliché, and made Pru not only a relatable realistic character, but loveable and strong. Overall this story is worth your time and energy. It's complex, well written, well researched, compelling, original and it will get you right in the feels. So please take my super high recommendation and golden stamp of approval, that you will not be able to put this hidden gem down. Happy Reading -E.A. Walsh

Yeah, this was a binge worthy read! I couldn't and frankly didn't want to put it down. I loved this book, only by the second chapter was I laughing and crying. It brought out my emotions and I couldn't contain my laughter or the tears. My BF thinks I'm insane when he walks in and I'm crying while reading lol. That to me is pure talent, to actually feel for these characters as if they were real and next to me. I'm a hard @zz anyway and I don't have normal emotions. So yea...was really awesome! Pru(Prudence)Penderhause is a neat girl. She doesn't think so herself, and neither does her peers. She has a couple friends, but besides that and a loving mother that's it. I think she is awesome and reminds me of me. The poor girl gets bad news and decides to live her life to the fullest. In doing that she meets a peculiar boy named cass(Cassius)Shooster. He is also a neat fella and I love him! Both of their lives are thrown into a storm and they need each other to come out okay. I've never read a book that has these types of characters at the fore front. Characters in any other books that would be in the spotlight. Was very refreshing! Can't wait for book two!!

Prudence Penderhaus was an average high school nobody that has flown under the radar all her life. She never would have guessed the day she found out she was dying would be the first day she really started to live. This was a clever mystery that was a pleasure to read. I won't go into details to avoid spoilers but this story definitely hit home for me and left me with all the feels. The characters were smart and interesting and we learned a good chunk of the mystery but it seems there are still quite a few twists we don't know about yet. I am very interested to see what happens next and in my opinion 17 Marigold Lane is recommended.

This book starts with a seventeen-year-old girl coming to terms with the fact she's dying. Now going on from that, you would expect this book to full of doom and gloom. Instead, it is funny and heartbreaking at the same time. Prudence makes a decision to do something that she has never dared to before, based on the fact of 'what does it matter now anyway?' What follows on is a mystery story that will keep you intrigued and engrossed as you turn the pages. The slowly developing relationship between our two main characters was fantastic to read about. One of the things that makes this book so superb is that our Main Male is on the spectrum. Now it's not clearly defined in there, but you do know he is highly functioning and his life could have been 'normal' if he'd been given the right circumstances. I loved Cass and his 'quirks' and definitely want to read more about him. Well written and with a smooth pace, and well rounded, developed characters. There were no grammatical errors that I found. This is the first book in a series and it does come with a cliffhanger ending. I honestly can't wait to read more. Highly recommended! * I received this book from the author in return for a fair and honest review. * Merissa Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books!
