I love the big events and people in the 20’s! This 1927 Yankee team may or may not have been the greatest team of all time but they are to the book’s hero, Charlie Russo. He is there during some of the important games and I feel like I met Babe Ruth! And I sensed what it was like to see Lindbergh fly away across the Atlantic from Long Island. I guess the FBI wasn’t yet the FBI but J. Edgar Hoover seems to be in the background watching Charlie and his woman from the future. As much as I was thrilled by the excitement of the final confrontation, I thought the actual broadcast of the Dempsey-Tunney long count fight was superb. I couldn’t help but like Charlie and his tribulations.
