Great American cartoonist Edward Gorey illustrated the unusual and absurd fates of 26 children in his famous 'Gashlycrumb Tinies' alphabet book. '26 Absurdities of Tragic Proportions' captures the essence of Gorey's dark humor and satire with one tale for each child depicted. These tales are all about human behavior, characteristics, chance and choice, and life and death. From Mystery to SciFi, from Drama to Fairy Tale and from Adventure to Gothic, this book has something for everyone. This is an entertaining and humorously 'dark' collection of short tales. These 26 tales tell of the misadventures of the children in Gorey's famous illustrations. You will laugh, hope, weep and fall in love with these children. Imminently enjoyable! The imagery presented will stay with the reader long past the time the book is finally set down.

Variety, excitement, suspense! You will be quickly mesmerized by these characters. Mr. Woodruff has an agile and twisted mind. Have read everything he has written so far and can't wait for more..!
Rewarding read! Woodruff put together a grand collection of dark humor within the 26 Absurdities of Tragic Proportions. Each story has a unique look into the depths of dark humor. The author uses imagery and adventure, and of course, misadventure to bring these stories to life. The characters have a depth that brings the stories individual plots together, but also show the well-deserving of the collection together. I look forward to reading more by this new author.
