"When I was a kid I thought that rain came from another planet in another Galaxy, a point at infinity, until it reached the Earth, and that it also rained in the entire solar system and pulsars, and in Nauru, which is a tiny country that far away, in Micronesia. But one day my teacher of natural history made me hear the rain."

He said: 'close your eyes and listen, the origin of the rain doesn't matter much, although you have already learned about the water cycle. The important thing is the meanings, the images of your life which bring to your memory, the words that someone told you on a cloudy day, that changed you life.'

274, winner of the Gold Medal in the Florida Book Awards 2015, recounts a day in the life of a teenager; nine months, 274 days after coming from Havana, Cuba, to Miami, in the 21st century. This books is a road trip from Miami to Hialeah, in which our main character is going to find love, adventures, sadness and happiness, all at the same time.

This book's suited for anybody: kids, YA, adults. It is funny, insightful, deep and sad, at the same time. This is exactly how it feels to emigrate. A classic! I wouldn't be surprise if they make the movie. By the way, this edition is in Spanish, I hope the English edition comes out soon.

Me gustó mucho 274. Mi madre era cubana y mi padre norteamericano y este libro me ha hecho recordar a mi madre. Ella sentía todos estos sentimientos, profundamente. Un libro con mucha ternura, se lo daré a mi hijo para que lo lea. This is a very simple and at the same time very deep. book It reminded me of Heart, of Edmundo d' Amicis in some way... I recommend it, and yes, it is like a movie, like the other reviewers are saying.

I agree with "anonymous" :) It was like watching a movie while reading, very entertaining and funny. Made me cry a couple of times too. And it is short for a novel, at least I wanted more when I finished. Great little book!

Don't be fooled into thinking that this book is just a Young Adult or children’s story, this book is great for adults too. You can read it over and over again, and never get bored of it. You can cry, laugh, and think...

El libro está precioso, me recordó cuando vine a los Estados Unidos de adolescente. Me hizo reír mucho y llorar un poquito también. Se lo di a mi hijo de 15 años y se lo leyó en dos sentadas. Muy recomendable.
