This book should be another tool in your toolbox when preparing for the CCNA ICND2 exam. You should use this in addition to spending extra time in your known weaker areas. This book provides a structured final phase of study that will help students avoid the shotgun approach to study during the home stretch. It is organized, structured, concise and encompasses all objectives for the ICND2 exam. I suspect most of us are not in jobs where we utilize all aspects of the CCNA coursework in our daily duties and some of our knowledge becomes stale. I have also used this publication when I have had some spare time and just want to brush up and refresh my knowledge on topics that I haven't used much. This publication provides a nice calendar providing a visual countdown of the 31 days. Printed on the back of this calendar are checklists to ensure you touch upon each exam objective. The author also provides a great list of recommended resources that would be helpful for anyone just beginning their CCNA study as well as on the home stretch to taking their initial exam or recertifying. The topic for each day is described in a concise manner and Study Resources are provided as well. Each day contains Tables and Figures and Examples that enhance learning for those of us who are visual.
If passing the ICND2 (200-101) exam is one of your goals, utilize this book to brush-up on your skills before exam day. The 31 Days Before Your CCNA Routing and Switching Exam – Third Edition by Allan Johnson is a day by day review guide for preparation for the Cisco ICND2 (200-101) certification exam. As is stated in the book, it is assumed that the CCNA candidate should utilize additional training materials to prepare for the ICND2 (200-101) certification exam. Mr. Johnson recommends several Cisco based books that are separated as primary and secondary resources. If the student utilizes these materials and references, this book will help them study and pass the exam. All exam topics are covered in the book to successfully guide the student in the day-by-day study to reinforce the topics. The calendar included in the book will help the reader to count down and prepare for the actual exam. Each day from the 31st day down to exam are broken down to cover each exam topic. There are several tasks that are included in the book towards the end that will help the student in configuring Cisco based routers and switches. I would strongly suggest that the exam candidates have access to actual network equipment in order to complete the tasks. All in all, this resource can and will help the student to reinforce the concepts to pass the ICND2 (200-101) exam and successfully support Cisco equipment in their environment. One of the only improvements that I would suggest is to include additional testing resources and/or practice exams in order for the student to test their knowledge before exam day. I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars.
