This book is by far the best! I have an honors degree in Physics from Oxford University, and therefore can claim to know a reasonable amount about the Physics AP syllabus. The 5 Steps to a 5 book covers all the topics a students is likely to need to know for the physics AP exams. More importantly, the book is extremely well written. The authors clearly explain what can be, for some students at least, some quite complex topics in the world of physics, and they explain these topics very, very, well. Then they effectively reinforce their explanations with a wealth of useful practice questions - questions which mirror those a student is likely to find on the actual AP examinations. I bought this book for my son as he prepared for the AP, and I wholeheartedly recommend this book to others in the same situation.
I, myself, am an AP Physics B student and I use this book in addition to my teacher's lectures and our school textbook. I purchased this book about 2-3 months after school had started because my teacher strongly recommended it. I wish I had bought it sooner, like during the summer before school even started but I didn't know of it then; I also didn't realize how difficult a class AP Physics really is. I think my grade would have been a bit higher if I had the book at the very beginning, but nevertheless, I think it is a great aid. My teacher is great at his job but there are times when I just don't get the lesson (because I made the mistake of thinking that I can handle AP Physics even before taking a regular Physics class) and that's when 5 Steps to a 5 becomes handy. I really like how the writers of the book explain the lessons so that students can understand and not use overloaded words that no one gets. The lessons are direct but also detailed. Since the book was written by people who have had the experience of what taking an AP Physics class was like, it relates to students very much and the authors also insert in humorous comments now and then to keep the readers compelled. I use the book for clarification, review, etc. It is very helpful and I am more than glad I bought this.
