"52" is without a doubt the greatest superhero crossover ever written. Minor characters are given more personality than any of the Big Three usually get. Story lines are separate and yet integral to one another.Truly, this is a masterwork by arguably the four biggest modern comic book writers. Pick up all four volumes and read them all the way through - it's that good! In Volume 2, The Question and Renee continue their pursuit of Intergang in Black Adam's country, The Black Adam family itself grows, Luthor furthers his plan to give everyone superpowers, and Adam Strange, Animal Man, and Starfire cross paths with Lobo!

I really was surprised how much I enjoyed volume one of 52. Here, I got what I thought I would in the first collection. There was a little too much of the wacky weird unrelatable and unrecognizable corners of the DC Comics universe. The overall story, I think, is still on track, but a lot of stories in this veered way off, for me to follow. It might be just me. The art was really good, especially with the addition of Phil Jimenez. I am still planning to read the next volume but I hope for it to be less like this and more like the first trade.

This story continues the story about what's been going on in the world with Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman not being around to help the world. The story line prominently features Booster Gold, The Metal Men, Steel and his niece Natasha, Batwoman, the Question, and Black Adam. This story shows new twists on characters and does a good job of continuing the storylines first introduced in volume 1. I would not recommend reading this as a work on its own since you would be lost as to what was happening to the characters at the time and it doesn't lead to any conclusions. Read it only if you've read Volume 1 and intend to continue to read the series. It also helps if you've read Infinite Crisis.
