Dr. Coleman did a great job with this book. It includes great charts and details that help answer questions about training athletes. It may not be the best for a little leaguer, but if you are in HS, College, or Pro. It will be a great tool to makeing you a stronger and faster athlete, which will help your game and reduce the potential for injury, due to the strength you will gain from following the recommendations in this book.

All in all this is a good book. I did not like the organization of the book however. There is some very good information in the text portion of the book, but it is separated by so many pages of charts that you can't follow the text. I would have preferred section one to cover philosophy and facts, section two to cover the exercises themselves, and section three to list the workouts by week/season. Instead this book mixes the workout charts throughout section one. You really have to hunt just to find his thoughts on issues such as exercises to avoid, diet, and flexibility. I also did not agree 100% with some of his exercises, but I believe the author was trying to be very conservative here. Still it's absolutely a solid 4 stars, and I did find useful information to incorporate in my coaching.

Well written and outlined! Top of the line. I am in my 5th week and I feel I am in so much better condition. The program starts you out slowly (after the season) which is very good for the athlete who wants and needs to get off to a good start with his/her workout. No full bang workout at the beginning. You progress into more intense workouts and are able to accomplish the task at hand. This book makes one want to go out and go through his/her's workout. This is the same guy who helped a fireball pitcher achieve his maximum performance (NOLAN RYAN #34 & #30). Gene Coleman seperates position players and pitchers with some different workouts due to different workout demands. Just check it out and see for yourself! If you want to succeed in baseball, this is a book you need.

This book is perfect for the baseball player trying to get to the next level. The level of detail is a little scary, so it is not for your little leaguer. As I followed the book's training program, my conditioning has become better than ever. I highly recommend this book to high school and college coaches.
