About the Author

Dr. Carlos Calderon has been an educator for 30 years. He worked as a teacher and administrator with the Los Angeles Unified School District where he specialized in programs that addressed the needs of the English Language Learner. Dr. Calderon also worked with the Milken Family Foundation, in Santa Monica, California, where he developed curriculum, and taught for Mike's Math Club. The math activities and games that he developed for the Club have helped thousands of students nationwide find success in math. Following his career in California, Dr. Calderon moved to south Texas to an area called the Rio Grande Valley. There, he has continued his successful work with math students.
