Bounded by San Diego Bay and the Pacific coastline to the west, the Santa Rosa Mountains to the east, Mexico to the south, and the lower reaches of the Los Angeles metro area to the north, the 60-mile radius beyond San Diego creates a dramatic wedge of extraordinary natural beauty. Author Sheri McGregor shows hikers, experienced or novice, how to make the most of the many possibilities here.

I am new to the hiking world. My husband and I like to take 3-6 mile hikes together. We usually need to stay within 20 miles from our home. this book, 60 Hikes Within 60 Miles, has been a great tool for our hikes. We look up the area where we want to hike on the large map. Then we find the listing of all the hikes in that area. It also provides a map of each hike. The best part is the descriptions of the hikes. It helps us really decide which hike we want for that day. And it gives us landmarks and things to look for on the hike. We highly recommend this book for folks in Southern California.
A super book with 60 hikes offered in San Deigo County. Some are old favorites but inculdes newer hikes too.
McGregor did a nice job of making the trail spots come to life. A lot of interesting and colorful details about plants and wildlife, and easy to follow maps and directions. This is better than other guidebooks for San Diego hiking. Nice to learn where to look for things out on trails. A take-along for hikers.
