I am puzzled why this book is for sale at Barnes and Noble but there isn't a write up so let me be the first. This book is a must read. Jenny Pavlovic was just like us. She heard about Hurricane Katrina but unlike most of us, what she heard, especially about the need for help for the animals, made her take action. She volunteered at ground zero to help with the dogs. Feeding them, walking them, cleaning their cages, etc. in deplorable conditions, not only for the dogs but for the volunteers as well. This was a real eye opener to me. While volunteering, Jenny came across an elderly Australian Cattle Dog that she could not get out of her mind. She had to help this old dog because she knew if she didn't she could not live with herself nor did she feel this dog could transport out safely. Trying to go thru the hoops to be an official "foster parent" were unreal but Jenny hung in there and "Kate" came to live with her and her two dogs. Being a foster parent to a dog and knowing nothing about it's origins, behavior, etc. was an extremely challenging and costly endeavor, to say the least. You will read all about it. Jenny will tell you her journey with Kate. She will also tell you of her on-going volunteer efforts with animals and networks around the country due to the fact that Kate came into her life and changed it forever. This book is worth every penny you spend. Not only does a large portion go toward the 8 State Kate Fund, but your life will be enriched as well.
