Sure, I wipe out a lot, but I’m into the physics of the stunts and all. I even design my own stunts… which don’t always work out… but that’s why God invented band-aids, right?”

Reviewed by Rosie Malezer for Readers' Favorite Richard Clark's 8th Grade Fugitive is a children’s adventure book. Thirteen-year-old Brian Ryan loves the thrill of skateboarding. When his school is chosen to host the Xtreme Dream Games, Brian cannot believe his luck; he might even get the chance to see his skating idol, Road-Rash Reiley, in action! But when he is wrongly accused of two serious crimes, he finds himself in the Principal’s office (aka. Brian’s mother’s office), having to explain his actions not only to his mother, but also to the police. Things go from bad to worse when his mother is accused of stealing funds from the school budget, and is arrested. It will take every skill imaginable – both physical and mental – for Brian to get both himself and his mother out of their unlucky predicament, especially when those responsible are two of the most respected people at MacGuffin Middle School. This is not the first of Richard Clark’s books that I have read, and it certainly won’t be the last. The amazingly talented author of My Best Friend is a Secret Agent has hit yet another home run with this incredibly funny, imaginative and mind-boggling tale of a student who has the worst possible day of his life. With each part of the story flowing perfectly on to the next, I found 8th Grade Fugitive to be a highly addictive read, which will keep many on the edge of their seats, due to the insane amount of hide-and-seek involved, in order to just make it through the ordeal alive. Teenage crushes, teasing siblings, school bullies, and more are what you will find within the pages of this fast-paced action-adventure. I thoroughly enjoyed the story from beginning to end, and look forward to the next installment of Richard Clark’s works. This book would be the perfect read for adrenaline junkies who love the thrill of a well-written, heart-pumping, action-packed read.
