About the Author

DEBORAH K. SMARTH has pursued an accomplished career in public affairs holding various positions in the private and public sectors including teaching at the university level. She holds a master’s degree in national politics and policy from Columbia University in the City of New York. As a past executive of a statewide nonprofit educational network that provides technical assistance and support for small business owners and entrepreneurs, she wrote articles on business issues for quarterly and semi-annual publications. She has written many op-ed pieces, columns and letters to the editor on political issues of importance. She is the author of the first and second edition of America’s Lost Opportunity: Stolen Victories 2012 published in 2013 and 2015, considered to be a “citizen’s account” of the unfolding events during the 2012 Republican presidential nomination process. She has also written a book We Are All the Same But Different - A Youth-Group Dialogue for Teens, 2023; and compiled, annotated, and wrote an introduction for the book entitled Letters that Matter - Speaking Out, 2024. This book, 9/11 How America Changed, is a call-to-action for all citizens to restore America. It is dedicated to the search for truth and the furtherance of freedom, liberty, peace, prosperity and justice for all.
