About the Author

Dr. Eduardo Cabrera is a Professor of Spanish and Chair of the Department of Modern Languages at Millikin University. Currently he is also the Chief Reader for AP Spanish Literature and Culture appointed by the College Board and Educational Testing Service. Dr. Cabrera got his Ph.D in Spanish with specialization in Latin American Theatre at the University of California, Irvine. He directed the acting studio Teatro Abierto in Hollywood, California, for eight years; there he taught acting and directed more than 50 contemporary plays. After graduating from the University of California, Dr. Cabrera held a visiting position at the University of Louisville, and a tenure position at Texas Tech University. Dr. Cabrera published a number of articles about literature, theater, culture and politics in professional journals of Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Germany, Mexico, Peru, Spain and the United States. He also published the books "Teatro argentino. La dirección teatral en Buenos Aires" (The Edwin Mellen Press), and "Teatro breve para la clase y el escenario." He has participated in a number of TV shows in California, Florida and Texas, including his own Latinos en Acción (PBS, Texas). At present he is the host of the radio show "Español en Acción" (FM89.5: Decatur, IL). Dr. Cabrera teaches courses in Latin American and Spanish Literature, Culture, Theatre, Spanish for Business and Spanish language at Millikin University. Dr. Cabrera most recent awards at Millikin University include: Research and Artistic Achievement Award (2013), Teaching Excellence Award (2014), and the John C. Griswold Distinguished Professorship for Modern Language (2016).
