Overview

90 Days in the Pen follows the three months of an itinerant cowboy/feedlot pen rider. His tumbleweed life bumps into an outfit crewed by a mix of oddball characters and a rancher that ain't firin' on all eight. Scoot Merritt promised himself that when he knew it was time to roost, he would. He dreamed of life as a cowboy since before he could remember. He also has talents that he figures don't fit into the cowboy way. When Ruby, the ranch owner's niece, is hired as cook, the shy cowboy finds himself drawn to her. She nurses him back from a horse wreck, but it's the life and death race to save his dog, Fizz, that forces Scoot to make some hard choices about his drifting ways. Ruby, T.F., Tink, the Bucks, Bronc, the Clegg brothers, Fizz, his dog and Bonehead the horse help open the cowboys eyes and heart.

About the Author

Gary is originally from Northern Utah, born and raised in the Bear River Valley. He spent his summers working on the family farm, for farmer and ranchers or horseback.

Active in the Idaho Writers League, he is also a former president of the Western Art Guild.

Gary has traveled extensively throughout Europe, Great Britain and the United States. He and Margie reside in Twin Falls, Idaho and are the parents of four children and have nine grandchildren.
