Book 5 in The Beautiful Series or Standalone

As a physical sports therapist, Gail Bennett is accustomed to working with gorgeous athletes every day, but after falling for a few of these attractive men, she has been left heartbroken one too many times. Reluctantly following her best friend's advice, Gail takes on a roommate--with the one man she has been avoiding since the first time she laid eyes on him.

Damon Johnson loves a challenge, and he is not the type of man to back down when he wants something. From the first moment he meets Gail for dinner, he feels an inexplicable pull between the two of them. In his determination to have her, he finds himself helping her in any way he can.

Can Damon break through all the barriers Gail has so carefully placed around her heart and prove that he's different? Or will Gail's reservations keep her from falling in love?

One thought could change everything.

So, this for me was one of those books that I liked but different love. It wasn't written poorly, the story was good but in the end there was just something that I didn't connect with the characters and the story. It can be read as a stand alone but I think it would have been better read as a whole series. I liked it but it felt too neat and tidy, too smooth that its missing the raw and edginess of the relationship woes. Gail was down on her luck and needed financial assistance so her BFF came up with the thought that she should room with her new sexy soon to be brother-in-law. Gail doesn't like to ask for help but as soon as she re-connects with Damon they decided to be roommates. There was tension between the two but it didn't have that build up of angst before it exploded. There chemistry between the two was good but it felt very structured and clean (coloring within the lines). Sometimes with great chemistry it is like coloring outside the lines to feel the angst and passion. As for Damon he likes a challenge and to him Gail feels like the ultimate challenge. However, between his three jobs and his dreams it causes his lines truths to get blurred. The idea of Damon was good but sometimes his POV came across to feminine to me, which caused me to lose some of his manly man edge. Once their drama comes to a head if it wasn't for Abby I may have had to throat punch Gail if she didn't get her head out of her ass but thankfully she did. Phew! And then they get their HEA or we hope they do but I assume we get to read more about them from in future books in this series. I am curious enough though that when I have a spare reading moment I would like to read the series as a whole and I have a sneaky suspicion that I will like Gail and Damon more with doing that. Again the story was super sweet and I adored the idea of it but I just wanted some more 'oomph' from it, for me to have loved it. I know I'm most likely in a minority with this opinion but that is the beauty of an opinion that everyone is entitled to one. :)

You know when you read an Alicia Rae Book it feels like coming home. If you have been reading  The Beautiful Series By Alicia Rae, then you will be familiar with the characters. This is a book you can easily relax into and get lost in, not minding the few hours it will read to get through it. It plays out in your mind like a movie in bright colours.  But even when you have finished reading it, the time it's taken you to read it doesn't feel like hours, just minutes. This is the kind of book, that when you have finished and put it down, you sigh and just sit. And everything in the world is right.  Alicia Rae writes with exceptional talent that has a feel good factor. She writes and her characters come to life, you know when you have one of her books in your hands, this book is going to be amazing.  So A Beautiful Thought is about Gail and Damon. Once you start reading it you are not going to want to put it down, so here is the warning guys  ** This book needs the supplies ** Lockable Room drinks Snacks earplugs Fans Cos you will not want to be disturbed. A Beautiful Thought by Alicia Ray  4 of 5 stars  Gail is a physical therapist who works very hard and works extra hours to help her parents pay for her autistic sister's special school. She's had her heart broken and has sworn off men, concentrating on work and family.  Damon is the brother of Gail's friend's husband. He is new to California and needs a place to stay. Abbey suggests Damon room with Gail as she can use the money and Damon is not sure he is staying in California, going back to Colorado or even landing his dream job on Boston.  Gail and Damon become roommates and their relationship progresses into much more. Will Gail finally accept someone in her life and trust him? Will Damon have to decide between Gail and his career?  I liked this story. The characters were nice people who cared for each other, their friends and family. It was a story that made you feel good in the end. The only issue I had was the constant references to Gail's broken heart and distrust of men but there was no background given.  I would recommend this story. It is an enjoyable read. It is part of a series but it can be read as a standalone which is a bonus.  *A complimentary copy was received in exchange for an honest review* Susan, My Secret Book Spot

I have not read any of the other books in this series. I like that I could come straight into this one and not really be lost. I am going to have to read the rest of the series. I really like the way Alicia Rae writes. I like Gail. She is very caring and willing to do what she has to do in order to help her family. I know it isn't fun having to take on a roommate. You are used to doing your own thing and then you have to start thinking about others. So annoying. I love Damon. He is awesome and smart. He is like the perfect guy. I love everything about him. He moved up to the top of my list. If you want a super sweet with lots of hotness story this is your book. I sighed so many times in this book because I mean....I love Damon. I am going to give this book 4.3 stars out of 5. Go get this book and I think you will love it too.

A Sweet and Steamy Love Story Favorite Quotes: “I don’t know why I always expected the worst, but this man continued to surprise me at every turn.” “A beautiful girl who once hid worms in her purse from me once told me a surprise is not a secret…” My Review: This is my first Alicia Rae novel, when I look at her backlist – I realize I am a late bloomer.  What a sweet and steamy story!  I will gladly read more of her work if they are all like this.  A Beautiful Thought is a comfortable and easy read, and a steamy love story – yay – no complaints from me!  I want a boyfriend like Damon, he is thoughtful, multi-talented, funny, supportive, smart, educated, gentle, generous, handsome, ripped, and caring.  Can someone let me know where they make those?

This was a cute fun little read. I enjoyed it a lot. The story to me is described as sweet. It's the kind that leaves you with warm fuzzy feelings inside. The start is good with the main character Gail finding out she's losing hours from work and her struggles on what to do to make up for her financial loss. Then her friend suggests a crazy idea of taking in a roommate. The pacing is decent. It is a fast read. Sometimes the transitions are a little choppy in the timeline but it's acceptable to move the story along. I like the characters, they are relatable in terms how one would feel towards family and life. I like both Gail and Damon. They are fun and smart. I enjoy their banter but I feel like they don't grow too much in the story. It talks more about how they deal with their situations rather than any major development. This is acceptable but I feel stories with characters that grow have more impact on me. Sometimes I feel the characters are a little unreasonable about some of their secrets but I suppose that's part of their character. I enjoy seeing the characters spend time with each other and learn about each other. It's good to see a couple be monogamous for the most part in their relationship. No ping ponging back and forth between other lovers or their ex's. Although it's funny how all the couples are extremely close knit in terms of their partners all being related to each other or being close friends. It's sweet that everyone has something or someone in common. That's ok with me but I just happened to notice the coincidence. It also may have been done on purpose by the author. The love scenes were good. I enjoyed them but I've read more steamy ones. This will make you warm but not steaming hot underneath but still a nice read. Like I said earlier, they are sweet and will make you smile. Overall, I recommend this book if you're looking for a quick easy read. One without too much character depth but exhibits happiness and warmth to the story and characters. It's a tender story that people should read. It's about dealing with life, unconditional family love, and finding the one person who will stick by your side through everything and love you for being you.

Five amazing stars!! Alicia Rae has done it again. And who wouldn't like picturing that hunk Shawn Dawson on the cover as you read?! Damon was so swooon worthy! Ugh, be still my heart. I loved every single moment of this book and wished that it never would have ended. It was also great to see some familar faces like Lilly, Kyle, Jason, Abbey and sweet Pearl. The family bond was just a perfect touch amongst the off the charts chemistry between Damon and Gail! Hot. Hot. Hot. I am soooo looking forward to more from Alicia, maybe a little Blake and Audrey lovin'?! Double high fives to the author! You rocked it. Must read!!!
