Overview

This children's ABC ebook is the product of a cartoonist raised on Dr. Suess books and Star Wars™ movies. "A" isn't just for Apple or Alligator. It features silly alien creatures like a gigglegant, a bleeb, an omolomodomo (I love saying that) and a snow snurgle. Each letter is featured prominently on its respective page, graphically and phonically. Example for "i": A six inch ix likes to lick ice from itty bitty sticks he picks.

The illustrations are silly and fun for boys AND girls. Dean also sneaks in the numbers 1-10. This black and white version of "A Book of ABC Creatures" is sized to fit the Nook™ and removes any reference to color. (A color version is provided for Nookcolor™.)

About the Author

As a digital illustrator, Dean was initially disappointed to find many graphic novels and comic books difficult to read on his new Nookcolor™. He set out to create illustrated ebooks sized specifically for the Nookcolor™ and the Nook™.

Dean's art and sense of humor is goofy because, well, he was raised that way. With a steady diet of books by Dr. Suess, Bill Peet, and Shel Silverstein, Dean spent his quarters as a kid on Marvel comics™ and Wacky Packages™. When Star Wars™ hit the big screen during his teen years, Dean was lost for life to fantasy.

Dean has never felt compelled to be conventional as his father was an NFL player/coach and his mother was crazy. Not clinically, but surely the neighbors thought alligators in the bathtub and rabbits hopping by the bridge table required investigation. Fortunately, silliness and a lack of structure fosters creativity and provides a lot of material for a cartoonist.
