Michael Donnelly was raised with wealth, privilege, and the expectations of attending Harvard Law School. To his parents' and close friends' dismay, Michael gives up his trust fund to become a minister and live on a minister's salary causing his fiancée, Barbara, to leave him although she still loves him. As Michael begins serving his first church as an ordained minister, he meets a spunky minister's daughter, Sadie Stevens, who catches his attention. Despite her attraction to him, Sadie does not want to be a minister's wife, and after she experienced a traumatic break up with her last fiancé, Troy, she swore off dating, leaving her distrustful of men. Michael searches for love and passion with a woman who possesses the three qualities that a minister's wife needs based on his mentor's teaching: her own strong faith, a willingness to make the needed sacrifices, and to excite him sexually.
