Overview

A Cold Light is a luminosity that cannot ignite, nor can it generate any heat.
This story takes place in a real mining community during 1947 in the UK. The wife of the mines chief electrical engineer, Ivy, falls in love with one of the younger miners, however, when the mine experiences a disaster, Ivy is on the group trying to decide who to rescue first, knowing that in time, the second group will surely die of gas poisoning, Ivy of course, knew that her husband was in one group and her lover in the other.

About the Author

Neil Willis lived in the area highlighted in this story. A Cold Light; Having worked underground for a while in one of the local mines, eventually leaving to attend the local school of art, finally retiring as head of a school of art and design. Throughout his artistic career he also worked as a musician in London living there now with his wife. Neil has published several similar books as well as many children's stories. His sculpture was exhibited at the French arts council at Marly-le-Roi.
