About the Author

Charles A. Alvarez was born April 5, 1957 in Nogales, Arizona. He attended Nogales High School, playing varsity football from freshmen year until he graduated in 1975. Charles attended Northern Arizona University in 1975 and studied Anthropology. He went on to work for the USDA and has been with the Food and Drug Administration for 16 years. He has previously held a position on the The Planning and Zoning Board, and currently serves as a member of the Board of Adjustments for Santa Cruz County. He resides in Nogales, Arizona, with his wife Nancy Mariscal Alvarez.
He identifies himself as a “drugstore cowboy,” and has been interested in southwestern history since he was a child. Having lived his entire life in Southern Arizona, his hobbies include hiking, dirt biking, native stone masonry and he finds his inspiration in true stories of legendary and ordinary lives of the Southwest. As an amateur southwestern historian, he enjoys researching locations, 19th century lawmen, and loves to read fiction and nonfiction westerns. His proudest moments are sharing stories he has authored with his children and grandchildren.
