A Cowboy’s Pride is the latest installment in Karen Rock’s Rocky Mountain Cowboy’s series. Rock brings both heart and humor to this novel. Cole and Katlynn are both flawed, believable characters that need to figure out how to compromise. Rock doesn’t short change either of their journey’s as they each figure out what matters and what they are willing to give up to be together. This book is also filled with lots of juicy subplots. Boyd and Joy get married; readers knew that wasn’t going to be an easy road. The Cole/Loveland feud is explained; the truth is both believable and perfect for the series. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this novel.

This one is an intriguing read with so many layers. The past and present interwoven with many similarities, including hardheaded Loveland males, Cade women who find themselves in tough spots, generations-misunderstandings, heartbreak and love. This is another fun addition to the Rocky Mountain Cowboys series. Karen Rock does a great job capturing life and love against a Colorado backdrop. *ARC provided in exchange for an honest review.

4.5 stars I am head over heels for this Rocky Mountain Cowboys series from Karen Rock. The characters. The covers. The setting. The plots. THE KISSES. Blissful sigh. One of the most intriguing parts of this series for me has been the longstanding feud between the Cades and the Lovelands, a feud made even more complicated by the fact that the Loveland patriarch and the Cade matriarch are about to tie the knot in a very romantic second chance at love. I love Boyd and Joy – although I’d like to knock their heads together a little bit whenever hurt pride sends them back to their own corners for a spell. They are so sweet together, and boy howdy do they have their hands full with the passel of adult children between them – adult children, incidentally, who do not share their respective parent’s warm fuzzy feelings toward the other clan. In A Cowboy’s Pride, we switch focus from the Cade family (who heretofore have been the protagonists) to the Lovelands – specifically oldest son Cole and his ‘one that got away’, Katlynn. Not only do these two have sizzling chemistry, even after several years apart, but they are smooching each other from the backdrop of a historical mystery that Katlynn is digging up for her documentary TV series. I LOVE THIS!! I love the research aspect of historical mysteries, the search for long-overlooked clues, and the anticipation that builds as the truth gets closer. Rock does a fabulous job with this plot thread, and I love how it all came together. I also loved Cole and Katie-Lynn together – and the sizzling chemistry I mentioned above. ‘Clean with steam’ is a great way to describe Rock’s Harlequin Heartwarming series. Talk about some swoony kisses! WHEW! Katie-Lynn’s character is one many women can relate to in this image conscious culture, even if we don’t have the added pressure of being on television. Her frank thoughts on the discomfort that goes into creating the facade of perfection – the cosmetic procedures, the shapewear, and other alterations in appearance – is very refreshing… as is the way Cole loves her best when she’s abandoned the ‘Katlynn’ pretense to be more like the Katie-Lynn he almost married. It’s also interesting that, while their feelings for each other haven’t changed, the reasons they didn’t work out the first time haven’t really changed either. This creates some tricky paths for the two to navigate as they weigh the very valid reasons against the very strong feelings, adding authenticity and layers to their story. Bottom Line: If you haven’t yet met the Cades and the Lovelands, now’s a great time to catch up! This is a series that must not be missed by any fans of swoony kisses, rugged cowboys, and strong heroines. The separate plot threads each are fully dimensional yet they are also seamlessly woven together to create a story you won’t want to put down. I can’t wait to spend more time with this feuding clan of cowboys (and a couple of cowgirls) and see where Rock takes them next! (I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book)

Once again Karen Rock has delivered us an emotionally charged, page turning chapter in the Rocky Mountain Cowboys series. She has us seeing the Loveland – Cade feud from both sides making it extremely hard to decide on which side of the fence to hang on. Through the pages of A COWBOY’S PRIDE, we explore how the feud originated and how love, family and perseverance come through with details to explain it all and possibly a resolution to bring both families together as one. A COWBOY’S PRIDE is a story of finding resolve to past grudges, finding peace with one’s past and present and of second chance love. Karen Rock does all this within the pages of the book with great skill that has you visually seeing the story as you read it, understanding how both Cole and Katie-Lynn feel and pulling for more than one marriage to take place. Katlynn Brennon, originally called Katie-Lynn, must return to her hometown – Carbondale, Colorado – to find an extraordinary story to save her show, Scandalous History, from being cancelled. Cancellation of the show would end not only her job, but also leave her once again doubting her purpose or importance in life. She would be a nobody, an unknown again. Would the Loveland – Cade feud be the ticket? Could she survive being in the same town with her ex-fiancee? Back to her hometown, she finds herself not only in the same town but teamed up with her first and only love, Cole Loveland. The feeling she had for him have not faded with age as it seems he’s hadn’t either. As she gets comfortable in her skin again and who she is without all the makeup and hype, she also realizes that the feelings she had about her family and her unimportance were inaccurate and leaves her doubting her choices in life. Could here be hope for a rekindled relationship? Could they each give and take this time round or would it just be a repeat of the past? This book handles it all with page turning emotional excitement that will have you laughing, crying, hooting and hollering, getting angry, feeling goosebumps and smiling. Even though this is the 4th book in the Rocky Mountain Cowboys series, it can definitely be read as a standalone. I will say, once you read it you will be running to get the other books in the series and looking with great anticipation to the next installment in the series. I highly recommend this book to anyone that loves a great love story, a book about cowboys with true grit and integrity of family, a story with mystery and intrigue. In other words, if you are looking for a GREAT BOOK, look no further than A COWBOY’S PRIDE by Karen Rock.

This is the 4th book of the series and a great one! I loved Cole right away but I wasn't too sure of Katlynn right away, she grew on me. Even though Cole & Katlynn had been apart for so many years, they still had their chemistry. It was interesting reading about them communicating with each other, especially with Cole trying to figure out if he should & could trust her again after she chose her career over him before.

4 1/2 STARS! Old feelings and old mysteries collide as two childhood sweethearts reunite and band together to learn the truth about his family history. Discoveries they never expected lead them down a path of danger and insight. Can Cole truly trust her to do what's best for his family, or will her ambition win out against her feelings for him yet again? Delving deeper into the Loveland side of this feud lets us get to know the family better since the series so far had centered around the Cade's. I enjoyed how well the Cades were still brought into the storyline of this family as well. An enjoyable plot, great characters and a satisfying mystery kept me enthralled throughout! Katlynn Brennon left Carbondale, Colorado a dozen years ago ... naive, broken-hearted and living only for her dreams. Now, after achieving great success, she's on the verge of having her TV show cancelled and struggling to keep it all together. She never thought she'd be returning home to Carbondale, but when the infamous Cade-Loveland feud strikes the fancy of her producers as the great mystery that might save their show, she finds herself smack dab in the middle of her old life again. Cole Loveland already feels like Katie-Lynn did him wrong by choosing her career over their future together all those years ago, and now here she comes waltzing back into town determined to stir up an ugly past that his family just might not live down. He'll do anything to keep his family secure ... even agree to work with her to solve the mystery of the start of the big feud between the Cade's and his ancestors. Fighting the feelings that still fly when they're in the same vicinity might be a tough road to travel though!

4.5 Stars! This 4th book in the Rocky Mountain Cowboys series moves from a Cade sibling to a Loveland and the feud continues. While I can nearly always rely on a poignant romance when reading this author's work, this story had a mystery that amped up my page-turning fervor. Having learned of some of the reasons behind the Cade/Loveland feud from previous books, A Cowboy's Pride finally reveals the whole story. As always the romance was enjoyable and Cade and Katie Lynn were wonderful characters, but the mystery was a fun and creative diversion. With a mystery solved, a wedding restored, and a second chance romance reclaimed, this could have been the book to end the series on. Thanks goodness we have more Cade and Loveland siblings to set our sights on.

Another wonderful story in the Rocky Mountain Cowboys series. Katie-Lynn and Cole were wonderful main characters, with a broken engagement in their past. The Cade-Loveland feud has interested me from the beginning, and Katie-Lynn (Katlynn) did a wonderful investigative job for her show that shed a whole new light on everything. I was sucked into the plot from the beginning and enjoyed every minute of this story. I just wish it had been longer because I could've spent way more time with these characters.

Katie Lynn(Katlynn) Brennon and Cole Loveland's story. Can young love overcome the past, learn to heal, love again ? When Katie Lynn comes back home to do a family history study of the Cade-Loveland family feud she must first handle her past with her ex Cole Loveland. This story will keep you on the edge of your seat wanting to know what will happen next. You'll get heartache, tragedy, revenge, intrigue, and of course love! A sure 5 star read!

"A Cowboy's Pride" continues The Rocky Mountain Cowboys series with a story about a Loveland. The Cade-Loveland feud is historic and infamous (think Hatfield-McCoy). The feud began when Everett Loveland was found with the dead body of Maggie Cade- and the priceless Cade emerald was missing. The Cades hung Everett for his supposed crimes and believed the Lovelands had sold their family heirloom for a fortune. The years ensuing included disputes over land, which allow access to the water- a key component for both ranches in order to keep their cattle alive. Katlynn (formerly known as Katie-Lynn) comes from this small Colorado town and was formerly engaged to Cole Loveland. She now hosts the show "Scandalous History" where she investigates historical conflicts. The show is in trouble and might be cancelled- unless they can come up with a big draw for viewers. Katlynn reluctantly offers up her "in" to investigate the Cade-Loveland disputes- and maybe she'll be able to figure out who actually has rights to the water. Cole Loveland is working the ranch, which is barely thriving due to the costs of water and other typical ranch problems. The bank will foreclose and take their ranch away. However, he is surprised when his father, Boyd, accepts the offer from the show to film on their land and get enough money to forestall the bank until they can come up with a new financial plan. With the shaky truce between the Cades and Lovelands due to the Boyd and Joy's impending nuptials, Cole is afraid of what the show will unearth- and the more recent history they might decide makes for good TV. He agrees to participate- if he can be involved in the investigation and work alongside Katlynn. Working together, Cole and Katlynn/Katie-Lynn find their old feelings didn't just disappear and they still feel the same way they did when they were young, before Katlynn got a job offer in LA and they refused to compromise and broke up. The history of the Cade-Loveland dispute also takes some interesting turns as we learn more about Maggie, Everett, and the missing jewel. The biggest draw of this story is the mystery of the past and what happened to Maggie and the jewel. It really kept the book moving quickly for me, as I was highly invested in this story. The tidbits from firsthand documents of the time were really great, and I wouldn't mind reading a series about Katlynn's show and the investigations they do! It was really fascinating, and I liked the search plus the bit of suspense about whodunit and trying to keep the past buried. In terms of the romance between Cole and Katlynn, it was sweet but a bit of yes/no and back and forth. They have a lot of history, so there were quite a few discussions about that, and a lot of petulance and stubbornness from Cole (which I didn't think I'd see considering his awesome persona in the last book). Cole seemed to be so upset about the past (in which he was equally at fault) that he let it bleed into other aspects of his life, including fueling the feud (which I felt he was a big part of helping calm down in the past book). He wasn't quite the character I expected. Katlynn went back and forth as Katlynn and Katie-Lynn in the book in terms of not only what others called her but what she was referred to in the text. I would have liked one or the other. Overall, it's a solid mystery with a nice touch of romance. Please note that I received a copy from the author. All opinions are my own.
