About the Author

Layla's first three novels were historical fiction involving pre-colonial African explorers. Since she was always either accused or praised-depending on how you look at it-for writing overly steamy sex scenes, erotic romance was the natural next step. Under the pen name Karen Mercury she wrote 30+ erotic romance novels, mostly MMF, for Siren.
She lives near Napa, California where she shoots archery, collects minerals, cooks, plays with her not-so-little Newfoundland pup, and does other "guy" things. She currently resists a passion for travel.

Let me start by saying “WOW” and don’t even think about reading this title if you have a problem with language, male-male romance or male-male interactions.  This is a Motorcycle Club story – so the men are foul-mouthed, not always nice, and always ready to take offense  at a slight: real or imagined. But – if you are not bothered by that, and want a gripping, sexy, steamy read that surprisingly shows a ton of heart- this is the book for you!  Layla Wolfe tells this story in alternating points of view from her two main characters: Turk and Lock. These two are raw, damaged men: both straddling the line between legal and illegal pursuits, fully vested in the brotherhood of their respective clubs, and in for a life-altering  introduction.  Turk has been involved in the biker lifestyle since he was a teen: his parents were both killed by an elderly driver when he was young, and  his strong sense of vengeance and survival are finely honed.  The owner of a Marijuana dispensary, Turk is searching to see who is selling  bogus product using his product name. Finding the lover he thought was monogamous engaged in a tryst at a gay bar was not the best night of his life. Even worse, it appears that the object of his lover’s interest is a member of a rival gang, one that is passing off swag product as his.  Lock is a relative newcomer to the bike scene: a former military man, and unable or unwilling to admit to his sexual proclivities.  Lock owns  a bail bonds company, as a bounty hunter he never misses a fugitive on the run.  Tracking a fugitive one night led him into the gay bar where, despite his very vocal distrust and dislike of homosexuality, he finds himself handcuffed and being serviced in a back room.   Oh my giddy aunt – the language is so foul and the repeated and very vocal dislike and disdain for gays, the homosexual act and the need to dominate and control the situation are so incredibly well written that you can just see the over-compensation for what shouldn’t be shameful, but is seen as such by Lock.  When Turk all of a sudden beats him down at the Laughlin rally, these two find themselves aroused yet unsure.  From here – the action and attraction just take off: combining forces Turk and Lock are struggling to conceal their attraction from their club brothers, and find themselves in a life-or-death struggle with a deviant and distasteful club member, a group of indigenous people that are being misused, a drug cartel kingpin and the difficulties of coming to terms with a relationship where neither are ‘out’, but want to be together.   I was, at first, put off by the repeated utterances of homophobic attitudes – and then I realized that Lock’s voice was one of a man unsure of  his place in the world, and struggling to fit in. Yes, there is rampant homophobia in many clubs, but there is also a strong component of live and let live.  A fact that concerned Turk, but he didn’t realize that his own club already was ‘acclimated’ to him, and accepted him no matter what.  Even more striking was the realization that these two had found something special, long before they had the courage to speak or believe it themselves.  Wolfe also showed that, despite the colors and reputations, both Lock and Turk have finely honed senses of what is right and wrong, and can see the spectrum of grey that exists between their lives with the MC and their lives in society. Before you know it, these two will have you rooting for them and hoping their plans for a life together as out and committed bikers with a new  club and outlook on life’s possibilities.  I received an eArc copy from the author for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

We have two MC clubs and two closest men in those clubs, Turks and Locks. Locks, is a bounty hunter and is in denial about his sexuality. Turks owns a marijuana dispensary and understands his sexuality but also understands the need to hide it from his MC Brothers.  Their paths cross and they find they have an attraction they don’t want to fight, but must hide.  Until their ultimate fear happens, who will survive? Ok, I have to say I went in really looking forward to this book. MM bikers, YES! And I’m not turned off by the violence, language, betrayal and raw sex that would come with a book like this. And believe me, it had it in spades. What really turned me off was the alternating POV’s from chapter to chapter. It’s too confusing; in already pretty confusing and action packed storyline, the reader didn’t need any more help on that front.  I did enjoy the love will concurs all feel of the book and the growth of the characters throughout the story. I also enjoyed that in fact it had a story line, not just raw hot sex with a few sub plots thrown in.   I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review by Crystals Many reviews

4 Stars I enjoyed this story quite a bit. It was a little long winded in some areas, but the overall feel of the book was great. I really enjoyed Turk and Lock. Both were rough around the edges, but in the end, they were exactly what each other needed. Twinkletoes was my next favorite character. I liked that his character, while having a medical issue was not down played, or down written. He was just as much a part of the group - he was integral to the outcome of the story. The chemistry between Lock and Turk was off the charts. Wolfe did a great job at keeping the roughness of the biker persona while portraying the dynamic between a Dom and his submissive. Wolfe did a great job creating a twisting, turning story line that was both complex, but believable. I really liked how the characters were created - shaped to become their own, cohesive group. I was given this in return for an honest review by Inked Rainbow Reads. AvidReader 4 Stars I had a hard time getting into and following the beginning. It seemed like it kept switching back and forth from their street names to their regular names, just seemed confusing. Once I got through the first two chapters it started to flow a little better. This book was a dark romance, with lots of violence, if you don't like that, this book is not for you. I liked that Lock and Turk were from different MC's. Both Lock and Turk were alpha men, but they came together after a few scuffles and ended up working well together. There were plenty of hot sex scenes, but most of the book revolved around their mission. They did seem to get into the worst situations, which made it a very good read. Even though at first I wasn't sure if this was going to hold my interest it turned out to be a good read. I definitely would read more in this series. This new biker series by the awesome Layla Wolfe was by far a super cool read!!! It dealt with Turk from the Bare Bones motorcycle club, and him finding love with Locke, a bounty hunter from another biker club.  It was raw and gritty, and they both went through some crazy and violent adventures just to be together.  The other characters in the book really added to the realism of the story.  Once I read it, I couldn't put it down.  Great job Miss Layla...I can't wait until the next installment of this new series!!!

I received an ARC of this book last week and I loved it. Turk and Lock belong to different MC and when they meet it is explosive!! Join the ride as these two men try to form a relationship in a world where same sex bonds are still rejected and forces them to fight for their lives. If you like your story dark and dirty then this book is for you!!!
