I read A Day in the Old Man's Garden and truly enjoyed the imagery created by the writing of WK Willowbough. My 11 year old daugher enjoys the outdoors and she also read the book and now is trying to establish some relationships with the little critters on our 2.5 acre wooded lot in Ohio. My wife, a second grade teacher, read the book to her students over several days. They listened attentively and were asked to draw pictures of what they invisioned some of the characters looked like or of animals they have seen in their yards. The book also nicely tied in to teaching science and teaching about conservation. WK Willowbough's love for nature is apparent and the book was enjoyable to read, even for me.

This warm tale is well written and easily lends itself to a multi-night continuum, making for fun family sleeptime. As children, we looked forward to these type stories which made bedtime an eagerly anticipated look-forward event.

More than a child's story, this tale is a spiritual reflection on man's stewardship of his world. I had the sense that this was a personal reflection told in the third person. It is a work that can be enjoyed at different levels by young and old. A very enjoyable and nostalgic story that seems to fit in my native New England. Probably best read to children in chapters but I finsihed it in one sitting as it reads smoothly. The layout and illustrations are very eye pleasing

Sweet tale. This book is a great way to introduce children to nature, as they'll recognize the animals from their own backyards. The author cleverly weaves facts about the creatures into his story line.
