This is a very important time in our nation particularly when it comes to topics of health care. A Death Prolonged presents the facts about end of life care and how Americans need to change their thinking about it. The facts are accurate and Mr. Gordon presents them wrapped in stories that are easily understood by the generalist audience.

Dr. Gordon has effectively addressed a vital healthcare issue in an engaging novel format. As an ER doctor for 11 years in the US, and now after 7 years of medical service in a developing country, I have seen end of life issues from a variety of perspectives. This book needs to be read by healthcare professionals, legislators, the elderly and their families. A tough issue handled in a creative way which is sure to promote much needed discussion. Great job!

Dr. Gordon deserves credit for writing a solid novel that tackles a difficult issue with sensitivity and insight. The characters are compelling, and the plot is plausible. His writing is clear, which is notable since much of the story unfolds in a hospital setting where medical terms could be expected to abound. The story's pacing is sometimes slow, but the dramatic conclusion is well worth the wait.

This book presents a topic of extreme importance with both humor and intelligent story-telling skills. I have yet to meet someone who works in the medical field who has not been frustrated by the way end of life issues are dealt with and this book accomplishes making these seemingly daunting issues more accessible for the average individual. Bravo Mr. Gordon!

This book is for anyone interested in issues all Americans have or will face at some point in their lives. This book examines health care costs, protocol for medical professionals, and the tradegey that can occur when we ignore the inevitable. I hope this book helps soldier in reform. All this talk about healthcare reform should include end of life issues. Read it and see how prepared YOU are!

Dr. Jeff Gordon has done a terrific job of writing a gripping story about a topic few of us think about, yet all of us need to address. That topic is the extent of life-prolonging measures that we want to receive at the end of our lives. This is such an important topic, yet we avoid it because we're afraid to bring it up. As a physician myself, I've been in the place where families are in turmoil over what to do with their loved ones. Time and time again, I've seen what happens when this issue is ignored and families fractured. All it takes is a simple discussion at the right time, and a lot of pain and suffering can be avoided. A must read for all doctors involved in end of life care.
