Overview

A treat for lovers of cozy mysteries ... with a little salt

"...witty, fun and sexy with just the right amount of snarky" ~ R. T. Wolfe, author of Black Creek romantic suspense series

"Move over Janet Evanovich. There's a new kid in town." ~ Sue Sawyer

Wannabe musician Pagan Johansson can't get a break. After she slathers honey on herself for her lover Michael to lick off, he dies. Who knew the honey was poisoned? As if that isn't bad enough, the chief of police wants to slap a murder rap on Pagan. Her aunt is seeing dead celebrities. Her best friend is in crisis mode because her marriage ... to Pagan's brother ... is falling apart. Her hot ex-boyfriend worms his way back into her life. And Velveeta Marconi - her less-than-sophisticated friend from years past - wants her to skip town and stay with her until they can figure out who done it.

Sadly, going on the lam with Velveeta is Pagan's best option for staying out of jail. But any sense of relief is short lived, thanks to a die-hard NASCAR fan sporting a Jeff Gordon tooth tattoo. He's got a lot of friends in low places, and they just may hold the key to uncovering Michael's murderer. When the NASCAR king makes it clear he wants a love connection with Pagan, she wonders - "Can it get any worse?" As she starts to unlock Michael's past, it becomes clear that the answer is, "Yes!"

If you like mysteries with recipes and women sleuths - mixed with more than a few dashes of humor - then A Fool And Her Honey is for you!

Meet the Author

Katy Lewis grew up in the Midwest where not a lot happened amidst the cornfields, so books held a fascinating means of escape. She loves all things quirky, and developed the ability to see humor in almost anything. After doing stints as a bartender, English teacher, and marketing copywriter, she followed her muse's less-than-gentle nudge and began writing mysteries. Katy lives in central Illinois, still in the midst of those cornfields, where a lot still doesn't happen.

The voice of this book reminds me of Janet Evanovich - smart, sassy, funny. I whizzed through this one. Not a boring moment. And the recipes at the end of each chapter are worth trying. If you like a sexy, funny mystery, this book is for you.

A fun and clever read from start to finish! I loved the main character Pagan and her outrageous friends. The author told the story in laugh-out-loud funny narration. And I loved how the recipes were included at the end of each chapter, and they went along with the storyline. Delicious. VERY funny, the murder made you think and the characters were smartly drawn. Definitely a must-read.

This book has it all. Fun, wit, mystery, great characters and neat recipes at the end of each chapter. The names of people and places in A Fool and Her Honey are unique, they complement the writer's voice. The plot is engaging. The mystery takes the reader on a fun-filled journey which keeps the reader turning pages to find out what's next. Great job from debut author Katy Lewis!

ONE HONEY OF A BOOK! When I first heard a passage of A FOOL AND HER HONEY being read at an author book signing event, I knew I had to have it. Katy Lewis’s offbeat wit won me over from the start and kept me going until the end. On top of her phenomenal characters and zingy writing is a suspense plot that is wonderfully complex and full of more twists than Little Orphan Annie’s hair. In laying out that plot you get tidbits like, “Wallowing in self-pity is a sport best performed alone so I didn’t answer [the door].” “I brought alcohol.” “I’m not entirely unreasonable, so I let her in.” And-- “Strawberry Shortcake greeted me the next morning with the psychotic grin of the perpetually chipper.” And-- “My hair had been cut into a scraggly mop that made a yak look cosmopolitan.” Not only that, but Lewis throws in a recipe with every chapter! (This is starting to feel like an infomercial!) I’m looking forward to reading her next book, JUST HERE FOR THE BOOS.

Entertaining, funny, sarcastic mystery with sexy romantic elements. Loved it! I haven’t laughed so hard in a long time. Thank you, Katy Lewis! The Fool and Her Honey is witty, fun and sexy with just the right amount of snarky. I completely adore Pagan with her less than ideal scruples and her easy going sense of life. With its hilarious twists and turns, the mystery kept me guessing right to the very end. If you like Janet Evanovich, you’ll love The Fool and Her Honey. R.T. Wolfe
