A Fool's Gold Christmas (Fool's Gold Series) by Susan Mallery, Tanya Eby

The unrelenting cheer in Fool's Gold, California, is bringing out the humbug in dancer Evie Stryker. She learned early on that Christmas miracles don't happen, at least not for her. And this year seems like no exception. An injury has forced her to return to the family fold, no matter that they're estranged. She won't add to the awkward scenario by being seduced by the bad-boy charms of her brother's best friend, the last man she should ever want to date. Even when she's recruited to stage the Fool's Gold winter festival, she vows to do as promised, then move forward with her life anywhere but here.

Jaded lawyer Dante Jefferson is getting used to the backwater town he now reluctantly calls home, but the pounding of little dancers' feet above his temporary office is more than any man should have to take! When he confronts their gorgeous teacher, he's unprepared for the attraction that sears him down to the soul. Evie is his best friend's sister—off-limits unless he's willing to risk his heart. Dante has always believed that love is the most dangerous force in the universe, but that was before he had to reckon with the magic of a certain small town, where miracles do seem to happen….

The story itself is heartwarming but im disappointed there is not more story to the enstrangment between Evie and May like it was with Charlie and Dominique. And the romance between Evie and Dante is VERY vanilla and lukewarm. The story is mainly focused on wide rnge of Fool's Gold characters, what happens at Christmas in FG, how the community comes together - more than Evie and Dante. And short - only 170 pages total of the story itself, minus the into, table of contents and 14 pages of an excrept of her other book and I paid $9.99 for 170 pages. Not too happy.

I was lucky enough to get an ARC of this book - it was so wonderful! A great Chritmas story as well as a great romance. When two lonely people lean on each other to get through the craziness of the holidays, love is sure to follow. A Fool's Gold Christmas was everything I wanted it to be, happy, heartwarming, even a little sentimental. Yes, I teared up a few times. The story of Evie and Dante is heartwarming and classic. I can't wait to read it again! Fool's Gold has always been my place for Happily Ever After and once again Susan Mallery does not disappoint!

I truly enjoy susan mallery, and have been waiting for this book for a long time. The story is great i always love how the town comes together. I feel like there could have a little more romance with evie and dante, but still a great read. I cant wait for Ford Hendrix's book.

A Fool's Gold Christmas is a great holiday read. It is filled with love, laughs, tears and holiday stress. Evie Stryker has always felt like an outsider in her own family and now that she is back in Fool's Gold, they want to make up for the past. Dante is Rafe's (Evie's brother) business partner. He is troubled by his past and refuses to love again. Dante and Evie don't get into the holiday spirit until they start hanging out together. The closer they grow the more panicked they feel and must overcome their past in order to create a future.

I enjoyed this book. it was a fun, light-hearted holiday read. The plot was fast moving and happy. The ending was good, but weak and predicatable.

A Fool’s Gold Christmas is another heartwarming romance from Susan Mallery.  Fool’s Gold is a fictional small town in Northern California. With a small town setting you have a sense of community and close friendships.  This closeness is a big change for “city slickers” Evie Stryker and Dante Jefferson.  Both are new to Fool’s Gold and are in shock with the small town community and are also not excited with the upcoming holidays. In a way Evie and Dante are a modern day Grinch but not as extreme to be considered as a Scrooge. Both have had a heartbreaking past so this is why they don’t enjoy the holidays. Having this in common helps to form a friendship that builds to something more.  But there is a major problem with their attraction – Evie is the sister of Dante’s friend and business partner.  Another problem they face is they are both afraid to get hurt again so they avoid allowing themselves to care for people.  This includes caring for family and friends, not only romantic relationships. But this book is called A Fool’s Gold Christmas so because of the Christmas setting you know this story will have a magical and happy ending.  Even though this book was predictable I still enjoyed it. Susan Mallery has a great way of developing realistic and likeable characters.  Evie and Dante have had a heartbreaking past but it was good to see their characters grow.  They both deal with their heartache but also have some fun scenes.  So this book had the right amount of drama that kept me entertained.    A Fool’s Gold Christmas is book number 9.5 in the Fool’s Gold series.  I haven’t read all the books in the series but I was able to follow along with the story.  The author does a great job of giving quick recaps of previous books so it was a nice reminder.  But there were so many characters I think new readers would be overwhelmed.  So I think it would be better to limit the number of characters that are mentioned in a story.  Now that I’ve read this I do want to go back to the last book I read from this series. A Fool’s Gold Christmas is a sweet romance and is perfect for the holiday season!

Reviewed by Aubrey Book provided by NetGalley for review Review originally posted at Romancing the Book It has only been in recent years that I have started to read and enjoy Christmas themed books. I really liked the main characters of A Fool’s Gold Christmas. Both were very jaded about life in general and hated Christmas for their own reasons. Their mutual hatred for Christmas brought them closer but could it change their views? Will they start to enjoy Christmas or hate it more??? Evie did not have the best childhood. She had 3 brothers and a mother that virtually ignored her because of the consequences of her birth. It was not her fault and she always found reasons to stay away and avoid her family. She had very good reason to be the way she was. Dante’s reason for avoiding relationships with women and settling down were different but still brought on the same heartache and need to run from love and affection. Evie comes to Fool’s Gold to heal from an accident and does expect to stay once she is healed. However, Fool’s Gold has another idea for her. Everyone that comes to the town tends to get sucked in by the people and their generosity. She does not see things changing between her and her family and she certainly does not see herself falling in love with a man that has stated he does not do the long haul. Dante is a gorgeous man that gets Evie and is just the man that can penetrate her walls. But he is scared of the feelings that come up when they are together. The power of love can heal both of them but are they willing to take the risk??? A definite must read for fans of the Fool’s Gold series but also those that enjoy Christmas themed books with a very sweet HEA.

I have had the pleasure of reading a few books by Susan Mallery, but this was my first Fool’s Gold novel. This story was absolutely wonderful! It combined so many of the things I love, dance, Christmas, involved communities, and sweet love stories, and left me with a quite smile, and a warm heart. The characters of Evie and Dante were well written; both had deep scars from their pasts, which have them running from love. Miss Mallery wove these characters together so intimately; in such a way that each of their individual healings could not happen without the other person. This is not a story that explicitly describes each physical intimacy, which I appreciate, favoring more of the emotional connection of these two wonderful people. If you like a good romantic story, full of Christmas cheer, community service, and personal healing, pick up A Fool’s Gold Christmas!

This novella is all about pain and, redemption. Our hero and heroine are known to us from the other Fools Gold books. I loved this one. It's short, but, intense. Great addition to the series.
