Just finished this book. The next one needs to come out RIGHT NOW! Ugh. Anyways, the ending to this book was the most exciting part! But my heart is breaking for Asher right now... what the heck is gonna happen between him and Skye now that stuff-i-cant-say happened? And Skye's friends? OMG, I can't wait for the next one.

I was afraid that Skye was going to dissolve into one of those girls who go all soft and gooey after falling in love and getting the guy. It really seemed like it was heading in that direction at first, but I'm delighted to say that Skye still has her head together at the end of this book, if not her heart. She's still one tough cookie. She still yearns for a normal life, but her fear for the safety of those close to her prevents her from telling them the truth about what's happened to her. Underneath her strength of character lies a vulnerable girl. While she is smart, Skye also wants to be just a girl and do stupid things because of love. Because of her integrity, however, she can't let herself choose love over the right path, and her heart breaks over the tough choices she has to make. She can't just change teams like I can. The fate of the balance lies with her after all. So, yeah. I'm to shamelessly switch teams after having read this book. I totally went and wrote a Team Asher post after reading A Beautiful Dark (see related posts below), and I still like the guy. However, I'm beginning to think that it can't work out. He's much too passionate about his cause and doesn't--can't--understand how much the Light is a part of her. That she can't dedicate herself to the Rebellion. Devin also wants Skye to choose a side (in his case the Order), but there is much more depth to his character than that. He really sees Skye and gives her the encouragement that she needs. In the first book, his character was still very suspect, and I didn't like how he'd rationalize his actions through the claim that he has no will, but he's proven himself true in this book. I seriously fell hard for him this time around. Please don't tell me there's going to be a third awesome guy in the next book. My heart can't take any more of this. Especially the hot kiss scenes. Oh, wait. I need more of those! There are so many dynamics playing in this book. Skye and Asher are finally together, but their relationship is complicated by Skye's inability to forget Devin despite his attempt to kill her at the command of the Order. There the unreasonable, specific hatred that Aunt Jo and Ian hold towards Asher and all the rumors flying around regarding Skye's relationship with Asher and Devin. The new kids from RSH. New (hot) characters. And new developments with Skye's growing abilities. Love, betrayal, and angelic powers blend together in this heartwrenching sequel to A Beautiful Dark. Skye will discover herself, her past, and the secrets that those around her have been hiding even as she grows into her powers and embraces her destiny. There are some devilish hints about what's going to happen in the next book that I'm dying to see come to life. I absolutely cannot wait to read the next installment and see where Skye will take us!

Just as intense (if not more so) than the 1st book! Jocelyn writes such an amazing story, I get so emotionally attached to her characters that I can feel what they are feeling!! My heart feels torn with the the whole love triangle thing! As can be expected, Jocelyn ends this book in a breathtakingly dramatic way!

"No." I whispered in shock and horror. Oh yes, because right there glaring up at me was the big pink positive sign on the pregnancy test. "Oh god." I said out loud instead of whispering it to myself. Aunt Jo passed by the bathroom. "Skye? Honey is everything okay?" She called through the door sounding a bit panicked. I opened the door and handed the test results to her wordlessly. Aunt Jo's eyes widened but gave away nothing. She finally looked up at me and blew out her breath like she had been holding it. "This can't be possible." I said. Aunt Jo took a breath before responding. "Skye, nobody that's half angel blood, with the exception of your mother, has ever had a child before. It's possible with a full blooded mortal to concieve but it is not possible for the baby to live because the mother always miscarries in the early stages of the pregnancy. Now, here is the important question, which boy did this?" Her face had suddenly gone cold and her voice was icy. I thought of the last time i had been with Asher. We had gathered the courage to try playing around with each other in the bed. I let Asher in because i didn't think this would happen six weeks later. "Asher." I said my voice barely above a whisper. Aunt Jo sighed. "I will let it go for once and let you do what you think is right but when your teachers and coach start asking what is going on once your morning sickness begins, you are going to be the one to tell them. I think you need to call Cassie first then go find Asher tomorrow at school and tell him. Don't keep this from him because before you know it the baby will tell him instead." She gave me a gentle squeeze then left. "It's a girl. I can sense it." She called over her shoulder. I stood there for a minute stunned. Then i grabbed my phone to call Cassie. "Lady! You have not called me in ages!" She shrieked. "I'm sorry!" I said laughing. There was a pause and a brief moan of pleasure burst from the speaker. "Cassie?" I started. "Yeah?" Cass sounded breathless and let out another moan. "Cass please don't tell me you are doing what i think you are doing!" I exclaimed. Cassie laughed. "Am i talking to you and playing around in the bed with Dan? Yes, i think so." "Gross!!" I complained. "Cassie, i'm pregnant." The words burst out before i could stop them. That made Cassie stop giggling. "What? Your pregnant? As in angel baby on the way?" She cried. "Asher did it. I know it!" Cassie practically shouted. "That's why i called you but your obviously busy feebly fighting off Daniel's attempts to stick his tongue down your throat so i will call back later." I teased her, said goodbye and hung up. Late that night, i got the feeling i was being watched while i slept. I let my eyes flutter open delicately and smiled when i saw that it was Asher standing in my room. "Dammit Asher i told you don't open the window!" I scolded him but i couldn't help but grin. He came over to the bed and sat down on the edge. Asher stroked my hair and i let him gather me up in his arms for a while before i pulled away. "What's wrong?" Asher looked at me. I slid out of bed and padded softly over to the partially open window just gazing out at the stars. Asher joined me at the window. "Skye, something's up. I can tell because right now you are looking everywhere but at me." He lifted my chin so i could look at him. His gaze was tender and warm. Why couldn't i just tell him? He wouldn't run from me. Would he?

First off let me just say that I love the cover to A Fractured Light soo much more than A Beautiful Dark. I don't know what it is about it but it's just so dark and awesome!! In the follow up to A Beautiful Dark we find that Skye has survived the attack from Devin. She wakes up in a remote cabin with Asher and an unknown rebel named Ardith. The details are vague on how she was healed but she is and she accepts it as it is. When they return home she has a lot of trust rebuilding to do since their story is she just disappeared with Asher without telling anyone where she was going. Skye does a lot of growing during this book. She harnesses her powers and by the end she has decided what side she will be on and what she will fight for. I must say I am happy with her decision, I was worried there for a while but she did good. It makes me really look forward to the next book to see how it all plays out. Parts of this book really aggravated me, a big one being Skye's naive attitude about the people around her. Her Aunt Jo acts crazy weird and Skye notices it but never questions it. I mean with everything she's found out about herself and her parents you would think she would question why her aunt has such a strong hatred of Asher, an almost guardian like hatred!! The same goes for Ian, he's always so moody, but she never wonders why. She comes up with excuses for all sorts of things that are flimsy at best, I guess I expected her to be smarter than she was acting. Another big thing was of course the love triangle. It wasn't horribly bad in A Beautiful Dark so I guess I let my guard down and thought it would be the same in this book. Let's just say it amped up and had me yelling at Skye during nerve wracking moments about all the mistakes she was making. Aside from a few personal issues I had with it, the book was overall good. There was a touch of suspense; wondering when things would go down between the rebels and guardians and what side Skye would take in the end. We learn some new things about Skye and her powers and the story of her parents but not a whole lot. I really don't know that there is a lot to find out about them, in a way I kind of hope there is some mystery surrounding them that we haven't yet found out. In my opinion it was a good middle book. There was enough going on to keep the reader interested but I feel like it was a lot of filler. Like if it had been in the final book the issues that made up the whole of A Fractured Light would have been wrapped up in just a couple of chapters. I do plan on reading the final book because I have a feeling there will be all sorts of stuff going down!

3.5     This picks up right after the other ended, and while it has only been a short time, I had already forgotten some details, but it gets you right back to speed.      There is a lot of tension in this one as Skye comes back home, with her aunt because she suddenly disappeared, at Devin because he tried to kill her, with herself at all of the guardians around and the fact that she is still out of control more than she wants to be.      But Skye is getting more control, becoming more confident even through the confusion and tension with others. I admired her for that.      Her relationship with Asher is still fun to read about. We get to see a slightly darker and deeper side of him in this one that I totally appreciated. And then his lighter, joking side also came back out and that kept things from getting too bogged down and completely serious.      For the most part this one it is mostly character development and build up of the tension.      Luckily I got the next one from Harper to review so keep your eyes peel over next few days for it.  Bottom Line: Good second book.

While I was a tad annoyed by Syke's wavering, I really enjoyed this book. The characters are easy to like and root for, and despite the abundance of angel books out there, I thought this one really stood out. I read A Beautiful Dark a couple days ago and I couldn't wait to get my hands on this one. I finished it in a day. Now I'll be counting down the days until September 24th. :)
