"A Gentleman's Affair" is a Great Story and a quick read. Donovan Hart, is the Owner of La Fuga hotel located in Malibu and Pisa of Las Vegas. Donovan is smart, handsome, rich, sexy and a recently reformed playboy, in search of his "il mio per sempre" {My Forever}. The story takes us through his hilarious and sometimes not so hilarious love life. Donovan has not been selective in his past and is starting to believe there is more out there for him. It is not until he breaks his own rules about mixing business and pleasure that his romantic luck changes. He finally succumbs to his attraction to Scarlett Montgomery an Interior Decorator he has hired to redecorate his hotel. Scarlett is warm, beautiful, sexy and funny. After a few hiccups they get together and sparks fly! Their blossoming love story is sweet, fun and sexy. I have to say I was blown away by the ending, I did not see it coming. I cannot wait to read the rest of Donovan's and Scarlett's journey. I highly recommend "A Gentleman's Affair". It is witty and warm, taking us on a journey of Donovan's self discovery. You will find yourself rooting for the sexy Donovan Hart, wanting him to find his "il mio per sempre". Review by CherriesInTheSnow

What a wonderful book about a man, Donovan, set out to find the love of his life leaving his playboy days behind him (although I want more details on that please). His dates are comical, very real, and while trying to run his business his parents started, he tries to find the one true woman for him. Its funny, romantic, sexual all in one. Definite need to read.

I don't usually leave reviews of books, but this one is an exception.  When I first started reading the book I realized, I could relate to what was being said. If you have ever wondered what not to do on a date, then this is the book for you. After reading it, I am now self-conscious when I say haha or lol...but, I digress. Read the book and you will understand. Yes, it is told from a man's point of view and quite honestly, I found that intriguing. Ladies, if you have ever experienced one bad date after another and have ever thought that men have it "easier" than women when it comes to dating, then you have never met Donovan. I say met because the more I read, the more "real" he became. I felt as if I was setting with a good friend as he described one disastrous date after another. I laughed along with him and sometimes at him, as he held nothing back. Men aren't always as smooth as they try to be. Sometimes, they fall flat on their face. Donovan is no exception. I found the honesty in which he shared his story endearing. I began to think of him as a friend, rather than just a character in a book. I also found myself becoming suspicious of some of the women he met. I kept second-guessing and couldn't read fast enough, wanting to find out if I was right or wrong. I just wanted this man to find happiness. He has everything going for him. What man wouldn't be happy, right? Deep down inside, there is a sadness he tries to keep hidden from view. He's suffered a loss and it has affected him more than he knows. His sadness began with the loss of his mother years ago. Donovan's current relationship with his father brought me to tears. It wasn't so much what was said, but the way he said it. As with any man, when they are hurting, they try not to let it show. Sometimes, you have to read between the lines. Donovan said just enough to convey the depth of love he feels for his father. The mention of childhood memories, the loss of his mother and the way he described his father, painted a vivid picture in my mind of the heartache he was going through. Not only did I feel his pain, but his father's pain as well. I found myself fixating on his father and the emptiness and loneliness he must be feeling. When you lose your one and only, how do you go on? How do you live without the one who gave your heart a reason to keep beating? Donovan spent years avoiding what his parents had. He had lived the playboy lifestyle, refusing to give someone the power to hurt him, the way his father had been hurt. Now that he is older, he realizes how truly blessed his father was to find someone he loved with all his heart and soul. Donovan has cast aside his playboy ways in search of his unico vero amore. He's handsome, wealthy, and emotionally available. He's quite the catch, so finding his one and only should be a piece of cake, right? Wrong! Donovan soon discovers that it was a lot easier to find lovely ladies to share his bed, than it is to find "the one" to share his life. Will he find his one true love? All I can say is non mollare mai, Donovan, never give up. If you haven't guessed by now, I LOVED THIS BOOK, I know you will, as well. Just a word of warning, there is a cliffhanger and it's a heart stopper. I can't wait for the sequel.

A Gentleman's Affair is a humorous yet serious story of one man's search for his perfect woman. By the end of the first page, I was hooked on Donovan Hart, ready to follow him on his journey. The story is told from his point of view, and Mr. Linn made me feel Donovan's disappointments, pain, moments of accomplishment and happiness. He's a very driven man when it comes to his dreams, very sure of his goals. A confident man, with just the perfect touch of arrogance, he approaches his 'search' very methodically, with sometimes hilarious and sometimes heartbreaking results. This is a very well written book, with characters the reader will care about, and moments to which everyone will relate. Donovan's dry wit had me laughing in one paragraph and his vulnerability had me crying in the next. It is a roller coaster ride with an ending that left me speechless and dying for more, more, more!

Entertaining, light and easy read Favorite Quotes: “But Jared and I are the only men in the room again, and the ladies have begun to stare us down as if we are the last two bowls of chocolate ice cream left on the entire planet.” “We are kissing so passionately that you would think that we were the ones that if fact, created kissing.” “…and just because ‘back in the day’ actually ended just a few months ago, well, that doesn’t make me any less serious about finding ‘the one.’” “She is like flies at a picnic.  Annoying, and always there, landing where they aren’t wanted.” My Review: This book is an easy and comfortable read that flows like a casual conversation or play-by-play journal entries.  It includes humor, stream of consciousness recall of memories, and chatty confessionals of a handsome, rich, penthouse living playboy, who just so happens to also own a hotel and sex club.  Oh yeah, there’s that… But he swears he is on a mission to change his ways and is looking for “The One.”  Maybe he is has found her, just in time for a wicked cliffhanger.  Hiss.  But I am prepared and already have the next 3 volumes loaded on my beloved kindle.  Otherwise I would be swearing like a sailor.

If you're tired of being dragged through the emotional wringer of tear-jerking erotic novels, and want to read a book that's simple, life-affirming, romantic, sexy AND hilarious, pick up a copy of A Gentleman's Affair and don't put it down until the end.  The protagonist, Donovan Hart, is at first glance fairly typical of all contemporary book boyfriends: gorgeous, wealthy, smart, successful, sexy and single. But the similarities end there. Donovan doesn't have any of the usual deep childhood traumas that make BBFs dark, deeply conflicted and sometimes dangerous. He's pretty much an open book, because the story is told entirely from his point of view. And the majority of it is simply hilarious. It is refreshing to see such clean, crisp, authentic writing in a masculine voice; it's long overdue in this genre. It is obvious that AJ Linn writes with great feeling, passion for his characters, and an ironic sense of humor that engages the reader from page one.The story line describes Donovan's search for "the one" after endless nights of drinking, gambling, debauchery, and one-night stands. His journey runs the gamut from the ridiculous to the sublime, taking the reader on a joyous and heartfelt journey, laughing nearly all the way. He hints about secrets from his sordid playboy past that occasionally come back to bite him. And, of course, there is "the Ex", who show up to keep him off balance as she tries to win him back at any cost.  But this very well-developed character also has a sad side, hidden beneath a facade of cocky confidence and sarcastic wit. He is still grieving the death of his mother and mourning its effect on his father. The collapse of their loving family life, the pressures of running the luxury Malibu hotel that is their legacy, and the vision to build another grand hotel drives him, but also takes its toll.Throughout, you find yourself pulling for Donovan. He is a true gentleman at heart.  His search for someone to spend his life with  Is sincere, and his efforts to overcome his past are often funny, but not without heartache as well. And then there is the cliff-hanger ending that you literally never see coming.  A Gentleman's Affair is well worth reading because it has genuine heart and soul, with great humor, trials and triumphs - and all the way through, you hope that Donovan will finally find, and keep, the well-deserved woman of his dreams. I can't wait to get my hands on the sequel, A Gentleman's Secret, because I have fallen in love with the truly endearing principal character, his mysterious past, and the colorful women in his life. I know that the sequel will be full of  humor, passion, erotic moments, and most of all hope, - which at the end of the day is what we all need.

I stumbled upon this book on twitter and was immediately intrigued. So when I received my copy I dove right in. The book follows Donovan Hart, owner of La Fuga Hotel, and the story itself is told from his POV. He's successful, witty and confident and you are thrown into his world as he tries to find love. Having been through his playboy phase in the past he's ready to settle down and find a lady to share his life with. You get to experience his many failed attempts at finding that true love. From ladies lying about their identities to god awful habits, his dates are disastrous, yet quite entertaining. Then Donovan meets one girl who has potential, Rebekah, who seems to be everything Donovan is looking for. Only one problem. She lives clear across the country and trying to maintain a long distance relationship is even harder than he expected. Of course it doesn't help that he finds himself spending more and more time with Scarlett Montgomery, the sweet and beautiful interior decorator working for him on his hotel. It goes against all his rules to mix business with pleasure but their connection is instant and he soon realizes some things are worth making an exception for. But is seems a few appearance from a cheating whore could bring this new budding relationship to a halt and Donovan finds that he must fight for what he wants. The characters throughout the book were very well written, especially Donovan and Scarlett. They were so compatible and you could really feel their connection. Watching their relationship develop I got invested and I found myself really rooting for them. Which brings me to my only big gripe about the book. The ending!!!! Why, why, why, do you do that to us? Cliffhangers can be painful and this one was.....in a good way of course but is still sucked. Hopefully the sequel won't take too long to be published and we can continue with Donovan and Scarlett's story sooner than later. I definitely would recommend the book. It always nice finding talented new authors and I'm certain that the next book in the series will be even better than the first. The author claims he's not a writer but I would disagree with him. I was entertained and invested in the story and characters. The writing itself wasn't as smooth as some as I would prefer but for a debut book I think he did a pretty damn good job and I look forward to more from him.

I hate writing reviews like this, but sadly, I feel that I must forewarn future readers.  I can easily get past the editing issues. Some of my favorite books are self-published authors who could have used an editor for the minor stuff, but that didn’t deter from their story. Besides needing some editing, I found the characters to be rather flat in personality, dialogue was seriously lacking, and some of the situations were almost unbelievable. When I read a book, I want to be submerged in the story. I want to be able to feel like I’m living in the moment with the characters. Being told he went to a meeting instead of being apart of his meeting really made the story drag for me. The cardinal rule for any writer is ‘show, don’t tell.’  ***possible spoiler*** The book ends with a cliffhanger that wasn’t very well explained. I could read between the lines, but it would have been nice to have a little more description...tires screeching, something. All in all, I found this book to lack continuity and I hate that’s how I feel. I really wanted to like this story. I’m simply proud of the fact that I didn’t flounce (which I nearly did about a half dozen times).
