As an architect, she designs beautiful buildings…
But will her heart ever find a place to call home?

Taylor’s architectural firm enters her in a contest to build life-sized gingerbread houses. After the contest, she’s likely to get a promotion to a position in another city. But it’s a team competition, and Taylor’s temperamental partner soon backs out. Taylor needs a replacement—fast.

When she meets Adam, a baker and single dad, she convinces him to be her partner in the contest. After all, winning would give his bakery much-needed exposure.

For years, Taylor has avoided thinking of anywhere as “home.” When she was a kid, her family was always on the move. But the time she spends with Adam and his daughter Brooke, decorating for Christmas and enjoying Philadelphia’s holiday traditions, has her questioning everything. Could she have found a place to call her own?

This book includes an original recipe for Gingerbread Cake with Lemon Butter Sauce.

About the Author

Lacey Baker, a Maryland native, lives with her husband, three children, grandson and English Bulldog in what most would call Suburban America—a townhouse development where everybody knows each other and each other's kids. First of all, super sweet read (and not just because of all the gingerbread)! As a character based reader, this was the book for me. I absolutely loved all of the characters, even the ones you’re not really rooting for have likable qualities and the ones you want absolutely love have some personality flaws. Very fleshed out essentially. I loved the family interactions and the friendships that were shown, all in all, other than one extremely cheesy moment it was believable and life like. Taylor and Adam are made for each other and I enjoyed the romance and the baking aspect of everything. (There is even a recipe in the back of the book so look out for that if you wanna give it a go!) As a person who really values family, I greatly enjoyed the family aspect between Taylor and her parents, her interactions with her friends and work family (friends are a part of the family too), and her immediate connection with Adam’s sister and daughter. This is a standalone novel but honestly, I would love to visit this family again. I would love to see if this is a Hallmark movie because the book was so enjoyable to read and be a part of. No surprise, 5 out of 5 rating from me. So far these Hallmark books are 2 in 2 as great reads, can’t wait to see what other titles they have under their belt. https://wordpress.com/block-editor/post/haruhi.home.blog/72

What a lovely story to set a festive, holiday mood. Taylor was working towards her dream job in Paris until her boss assigned her a job designing a giant Gingerbread house for a new competition in Philadelphia. She teams up with an amazing baker and his determined daughter, learning along the way that compromise can yield unexpected results. Both Adam and Taylor learn along the way that their hearts can be opened again after loss and sometimes what you need in life is right in front of your eyes, you just need to trust your feelings and speak the truth. I received a free ARC from Net Galley and the publisher for my honest opinions.

A Gingerbread Romance by Lacey Baker is a sweet, moving, heartfelt African American character-based Christmas romance about opening your heart and being courageous enough to take a second chance on dreams that you might have given up on because of life or fear that they might not come true. With multidimensional, diverse, and well-developed characters, humor, romance, and vivid descriptions of scrumptious deserts and treats, Baker captures the spirit and joy of the Christmas season and spending it with people you love/family. Eight-year-old Taylor had one Christmas wish—for her family to move into a home to stay as a family for Christmas where Santa would always find her. Maybe someday even with her very own family. A budding young artist, she drew a picture capturing her wish. But when it didn’t come true, and she instead began an educational, and ultimately rewarding journey around the world with her parents as their work took them from place to place year after year, Taylor let that dream fade away. Having decided home and family is not in the cards for her, Taylor now focuses on her work, putting all her energy, talent, and dreams into her career. The job/promotion of her dreams hinges on her leading her architectural firm to winning the city’s life-size gingerbread house building competition. When her partner drops out the day before, she’s desperate to find a replacement. Luckily, a local baker who rubs her the wrong way bakes the most amazing cakes. If only she can convince him to partner with her for the competition. Adam's a widower father working in Ray’s Bakery handling most of the baking, but his dream is to open his own shop. When his wife died suddenly leaving him with a small child he’d put his culinary dreams on hold for the reality of supporting his daughter and paying bills. A talented baker, Adam’s cakes are as delicious as they are beautiful. His path crosses Taylor’s when he delivers a cake to her office’s Holiday party. However, their first meeting is not the best first impression when he gets icing on her business papers. Good thing she loves how delicious his cake tastes and its design. Adam and Taylor agree to work together to help her win the competition and to help him get exposure to open his own bakery shop. As they prepare for the competition, Adam draws Taylor away from her work, work, work mentality and encourages her to spend time with him and his daughter Brook enjoying Philadelphia’s Holiday traditions and learning to bake for the competition. While Taylor loves watching classic holiday movies, she doesn’t decorate or spend time doing any other Christmas/Holiday things, probably because they remind her of home and family—things she had put behind her as out of reach. But spending time with Adam and Brook reawakens those dreams and longings. Adam had mostly given up on his culinary dreams, believing that designing and baking the occasional cake at Ray’s would satisfy that part of him, but participating in the competition and working with Taylor makes him start dreaming again. Brook loves having a “mother” figure in her life again and takes to Taylor almost immediately. Taylor unconsciously starts thinking of Brook as her daughter. While preparing for the competition these three become a family, filling the holes left in each of their lives over the years by loss and disappointment. Readers looking for a sweet, romantic, hopeful read to get them in the mood for Christmas should enjoy the novel.

3.5 stars, but since there aren't half stars I round up. Thank you to NetGalley, Hallmark Publishing and Lacey Baker for an ARC ebook copy to review. As always, an honest review from me. Like: - Reads like a typical cute Hallmark movie - The main characters (love interests) but they're not my favorite characters of all time - A feel good holiday book to get in the spirit Love: - all the baking and yummy recipes - who doesn't want to read a book about great desserts? - Really easy to read a little bit at a time which is perfect if you don't have time to read for long periods of time Dislike: - sometimes people are a little judgmental about what they think other people's lives should be Wish that: --- Overall, a fairly typical Hallmark Movie feel is exactly what you're going to get from this book. So if you're looking for a feel good holiday read to get you in the spirit, then A Gingerbread Romance is for you!

Caution, mild spoilers ahead. A 4* “I’ve always told you that home is wherever you hang your Christmas stocking. You’ll know in your heart when you’ve found the right place, or the right person.” I got a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. A Gingerbread Romance was a perfect Christmas holiday read, a little bit in advance. But who doesn’t need a Christmas break in the middle of the hot summer? Right? This book was light, sweet, with a heart-warming tale that was easy to read. The protagonists were easy-to-love, they have real problems and real life. They develop throughout the book around light and adorable romance. The epilogue, in the end, adds the last smile to the whole book full of them. There might be a little too much description in the story, but it is easy to turn the pages one after another, as the story is charming and entertaining. The recipe of a gingerbread cake with lemon butter sauce at the end of the book is the most welcome and I will certainly be making it soon, to relive the story, for one more time. One thing though, I already knew the story… Because I’ve seen it already. In a movie. This book told the same tale, but I must say in a more heart-warming way. Not much more was added to the story in this book, but it felt more real and more engaging in the form of a book. For those who haven’t seen the movie, or already forgot some of the details, this should be a fun read in this merry season of the year, that is approaching. Blog : irenadams.com

This book has made me want to begin all my Christmas baking! It’s all about gingerbread and the sweet things that go along with Christmas. (There’s even a gingerbread recipe at the end of the book that looks delicious.) But what I loved most of all about this book was the theme of home, family, and discovering the most important things in life. I liked the characters of Adam and Taylor and enjoyed watching their relationship grow as they built the gingerbread house. Brooke, the little girl, was adorable and added a child’s view of Christmas to this story. As always, Hallmark takes us right to “the heart of Christmas”. I enjoyed reading this book. I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

I am a longtime fan of the Hallmark Channels. So, it has been wonderful to see the increased casting diversity in their movies over the years. It is also wonderful to see that the diversity is not only in their scripts but is now occurring in the books they are publishing. This story is a delightful holiday-themed story that maintains the traditional Hallmark values. The heroine is professional and focused on success. The hero is gifted and successful in his own way but nowhere near where he should be due to challenges he has experienced in life. There is a situation that requires them to team up. In forming this team, they will both have the opportunity to achieve their individual goals. However, along the way they both discover something that is much better than individual success and a choice needs to be made. I liked this story because the situation, though typical for a Hallmark product, shows that it is not limited to a particular group. We all face value choices that are consistent across groups. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book provided by the publisher and BookFunnel. However, the thoughts expressed are totally my own.

I read and savored this heart-warming holiday story on a hot summer’s day in August. Yet, as I unpacked this gift of a book, I was swept away to mid-December, thanks to the vivid descriptions. I could see the sparkling lights on the tree, smell the spicy gingerbread baking, taste the peppermint bark, hear the Christmas carols, explore the Christmas Market, sense the feelings of love and family…all the wonderful moments of the Christmas season came alive for me. Taylor is a successful up-and-coming young architect, always traveling to an exciting new project. New places are all she’s ever known. Her parents did the same thing, traveling the world with their own high-powered careers. Yes, Taylor knew her parents were loving and supportive, yet she always longed for a settled home life, and especially a home for Christmas. When Taylor returns to her modern townhome in Philadelphia a few weeks before Christmas, she plans to work hard and achieve the next goal on her upward career path. However, when she receives a surprise assignment, her world of budgets, and timelines collides with the sweet smell of gingerbread, and a handsome young baker with an adorable daughter. Adam leads with his heart, he gives his all to his baking and his family. He believes you can’t plan everything and there’s always time for fun. He is the exact opposite of Taylor or is he? This book is based on the Hallmark Channel Original Movie. I’m glad Hallmark featured diversity. This story succeeds as a movie or a book and will have you sensing all the joy of the holiday season. A recipe for Gingerbread cake with lemon butter sauce is included-yum! Thanks to NetGalley and Hallmark Publishing for a digital review copy. This is my honest review.

I really loved this book. This is a beautiful Christmas story about two people Adam and Taylor. Who at first seems to have nothing in common but as they get to know each other while working on a gingerbread house together they actually have more in common than they thought. Both have through been through heartbreak and disappointment. Also Taylor grows to love Adam's sweet little daughter Brooke. This is a beautiful story I think everyone will enjoy.

A Gingerbread Romance by Lacey Baker tells the story of Taylor, an architect who’s used to moving around and not staying in one place. She’s tasked with building a walk-in gingerbread house for a competition to donate proceeds to charity. She’s assigned with a well-known baker, but when her competitor makes a better offer, it leaves Taylor alone. That’s when Adam steps into the picture. He’s a single father working in a bakery to take care of his daughter Brooke. He’s always dreamed of owning his own bakery, but working with Taylor will have to suffice. I loved this story! I watched the movie on Hallmark Channel, but Lacey Baker does an amazing job bringing this story to life even more! Taylor and Adam’s chemistry is clear, and the relationship grows beautifully with every turn of the page. There are even additional scenes that fill in the spaces that the movie didn’t address. It makes it that much sweeter as a story! Awesome read!

Marvelous Gingerbread Houses Lacey Baker, the author of various books, wrote "A Gingerbread Romance. Based on the Hallmark Channel Original Movie" and published by Hallmark Publishing. As a child Taylor Scott had to get used to being moved on a regular basis by her parents. As an successful architect of beautiful houses and projects twenty years later this has become her chosen life style. Then she is challenged by her boss to participate in a gingerbread house building contest in Philadelphia. Things do not go as planned since the baker, Annabelle, with whom she wants to partner decides to work with another participant, Bradford Taylor. They had gone to college together. She ends up with Adam as a baker which is a challenge for both of them since Lacey wants to create a modern gingerbread building whereas Adam wants to go the traditional route. Then there is Brooke, Adam's adorable daughter, who might also have a say in the project. Will they be able to find common ground? Will they succeed to finish their project in time? And what will Lacey do when she loses her heart to Adam and Brooke but also gets her dream, running the Paris' office of her architect company? Will her promotion be more important than friends and family? This Christmas romance with wholesome and believable characters who have to deal with real-life problems. It is not only about a challenge, but also about friends and family. It is an enjoyable relaxing read. Although I did not know the author previously I can highly recommend the book. The book also contains the recipe for gingerbread cake with lemon sauce, so that the readers can enjoy their own gingerbread. The complimentary copy of this book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley free of charge. I was under no obligation to offer a positive review. My favorite holiday, Christmas, plus my favorite genre, romance, equals a few hours of pure happiness. A Gingerbread Romance is based on the Hallmark Christmas movie of the same name. This is exactly as advertised. A sweet holiday movie that melts your heart. It’s full of family and love and will get everyone in the Christmas spirit. As much as I like drama, I was glad there wasn’t a third person in this story. Just Taylor and Adam, falling in love during the happiest time of the year. If you love Hallmark movies, you will love this book. ARC received from NetGalley for an honest review.

It's the first time I've read a book by Lacey Baker and it's a good one that based on the Hallmark Movie. Make certain to pick up this Christmas Romance to get you in the right mood for the upcoming holidays. I gave this book0 4.25 of 5.0 stars for story line and characterization. This is a sweet Christmas tale because after all it's based on a Hallmark movie. I received a complimentary copy of this book to read. This in no way affected my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

This is a cute Hallmark Christmas romance! I liked the idea of a life-sized gingerbread house and all the work detailed in the story to get it built. I enjoyed watching Taylor learn to trust and release some of the control to Adam and Brooke, and I particularly enjoyed the slow burn romance! Great easy, happy read for Christmas.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I'm becoming addicted to Hallmark books. I'm already a sucker for their movies, all seasons, but they do Christmas right. A Gingerbread Romance, by Lacey Baker, is the format we all love, sweet and has a happily ever after. Available September 17, 2019, the book is based on the original Hallmark movie. I'm wondering if it's too soon to put a tree? Taylor Scott moved around a lot, really a lot, during her childhood. She caught the wanderlust bug from her parents and now embraces it to the fullest. She's hoping her architectural firm will promote her to the Paris office. Paris, France not Paris, Tennessee. The problem with Taylor is she's rigid, a control freak & a workaholic. Not one bit of balance in her life. Her firm wants to build a life-size gingerbread house in a city contest. Guess who gets to design it? Not happy but taking one for the firm. Adam Dale is a baker deep in his soul, been cooking since he could reach the countertop. He's a widower with a 10 year old his and has had to find balance in his life, no other way to make it through the day. He and Taylor are different sides of the same coin. They balance each other out, smooth ruff edges. Of course, they don't like each other at first but are attracted. Fight the feelings, learn to work as a team and fall in love. Perfect Hallmark plot. The author has made me want to spend a day shopping and sightseeing in Philadelphia, her descriptions are fabulous. Happy reading. #Netgalley #LaceyBaker #HallmarkPublishing #romance #Christmas.

I have not seen the movie this was based on...how have I missed it every time it airs?? (it stars Tia Mowry-Hardrict, I have loved her since "Sister, Sister"!) but I loved the idea, building a life sized gingerbread house. Super cute and interesting! but to be honest, this wasn't my favorite read; some of the dialogue was phrased weirdly, and the word "ah" was used waaaayyy too frequently...it was a bit annoying. I feel like I probably would have liked it more if I saw the movie first, then I could have had all the awesome gingerbread visuals in my head while I read! I received an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

A Gingerbread Romance by Lacey Baker was such an amazing, heartwarming, sweet, and adorable Hallmark Christmas novel. Yes, ut had romance, but it was so much more. Ms Baker created a visual landscape of Philadelphia and of the Christmas Gingerbread home process that makes the reader feel as if they are also participating in the competition. It is a story of hopes, dreams, finding friends and family, and realizing that it is never ever too late to find what matters most to you and to make that happen. I loved the individual characters of Taylor and Adam and I loved their banter and their chemistry. I felt the relationship and the addition of Adam’s adorable daughter, Brooke, were fitting and perfect. I was rooting for the couple the whole time. The ending was perfect as well (including the tiny surprise at the end). A perfect holiday read for any day of the year. 5/5 stars enthusiastically Thank you again!

In my opinion, no company does a Christmas story better than Hallmark. And this story is no exception. Based on the Hallmark Original Movie, A Gingerbread Romance is the story of Taylor Scott, an architect working her way up the in the firm for which she works. Taylor has never lived in one city very long, being the daughter of two parents who relocated frequently for their jobs. She remembers the desire she had as a child to have one place to call home - something she has forgotten about as an aspiring architect. She is challenged by her firm to make a life-sized gingerbread house together with a baker in a local contest. When her originally appointed partner chooses to join another team, Taylor joins forces with a local baker, Adam, who she meets when he delivers a Christmas tree cake to Taylor’s office. Adam is a widower who had to put his dreams of culinary school on hold after the sudden death of his wife in order to support himself and his young daughter Brooke. While it was not love at first sight, the partners begin to work well together. Adam and Brooke show Taylor what it is like to have a traditional Christmas and she starts to see a different life for herself. I really enjoyed the book despite the fact I had watched the Hallmark movie last year. The central theme of family and traditions have great importance to me personally. I loved the graphics of the gingerbread house at the beginning of each chapter and feel it added to the coziness of the book. I highly recommend this book to those who want to read a sweet, Christmas story. Thank you to Netgalley and Hallmark Publishing for the ARC of this book in exchange for the honest review that I have provided here.

What could be better for the holidays than a Hallmark movie? Well how about a holiday Hallmark book? They are every bit as charming and feel good as the movies, maybe even better as you can let your imagination do the work. This sweet, clean romance was a jolly good read and had all the heartwarming feels. Can you resist a gingerbread cover like this book has? I couldn't and am glad I didn't. A gingerbread house building contest, a few near mishaps,a sweet little girl and her handsome widowed baker father and the possibility of a romance with a take charge jet setter woman. Is there any way a romance a romance could be baked up in this winter wonderland tale? This book will put you in the mood to start your holiday baking. Expected publication: September 17th 2019 by Hallmark Publishing. I was given a complimentary copy of this book. Thank you. All opinions expressed are my own.
