Sam Westbrook has always been the family hell-raiser, but as an adult he's enjoyed not being under the constant watchful eye of his family. That was until his great-grandfather passed away. Shelby Abbott was always the good girl – it's what happens when you're the pastor's daughter in a small town. Now, she's ready to leave that image behind. For years she's heard about wild Sam Westbrook, but she never thought she would be the one to catch his eye. And being the center of Sam's attention isn't something Shelby ever prepared for.

About the Author

New York Times and USA Today Bestseller/contemporary romance writer Samantha Chase released her debut novel, Jordan's Return, in November 2011. Although she waited until she was in her 40's to publish for the first time, writing has been a lifelong passion. Her motivation to take that step was her students: teaching creative writing to elementary age students all the way up through high school and encouraging those students to follow their writing dreams gave Samantha the confidence to take that step as well.

When she's not working on a new story, she spends her time reading contemporary romances, playing way too many games of Scrabble or Solitaire on Facebook and spending time with her husband of 25 years and their two sons in North Carolina.

5 Star Review of A Girl Like You (Magnolia Sound #2) by Samantha Chase I was intrigued by Sam Westbrook from the first time he appeared in the series. I knew that the woman who would finally tame the wild man would have to be unique and someone special; that is certainly Shelby Abbott. I also knew that there was so much more to him than his reputation. When Sam is forced to move back to Magnolia Sound to meet the terms of his great grandfathers will, he is resentful. Particularly since it appears that the towns folk have not forgotten his juvenile hijinks. Shelby is shocked when Sam pays her attention, after all she has always been a “good” girl. I loved how Sam’s attention brings out Shelby’s inner strength, determination and how she blossoms. I also loved how all in Shelby was in her support of Sam. Sam and Shelby are total opposites and yet they really do belong together. Is Shelby the woman who can soothe the savage beast? Will she be able to handle a fling knowing that Sam’s time in Magnolia Sound is limited? A Girl Like You is a spicy, romantic, love story that was heartwarming. I was so happy that they were able to navigate through all the issues they both had and get their happily ever after. Although this can be read as a stand alone, I recommend that you also one click the other two books in the series as they are just as enjoyable.

Shelby and Sam were AMAZING together. I don’t think Shelby could have been a more perfect heroine for Sam. She built him up when he didn’t think highly of himself, but she was also a more grounded heroine. My heart aches for Sam and what he was dealing with, whether it was facing his past, or granting her great grandfather’s wishes. I love the side of Shelby he brought out. She became this heroine who no longer went with the flow, but voiced her opinion when she wanted change. I enjoyed catching up with the secondary characters in this book, and can’t wait to get Mason’s story! This is definitely a must read!!

I love the Westbrook family. They have a loving family that isn’t perfect. Each member has their quirk but they are open and accepting to each other and love with their whole hearts. They protect, stand up for, and push to make each other better without passing judgment. In A Girl Like You the bad boy, Sam Westbrook, falls for the good girl, Shelby Abbott. He knows his reputation and he knows that it reflects on Shelby. He tries to show his good side, prove that he is a better person but struggles to let the gossip not overtake their relationship. It was amazing to see this bad boy step up, change his ways, and win the heart of Shelby. This is book two of the Magnolia Sound book and the book can be read as a standalone but I did like that I knew why Sam was in Magnolia Sound and how the other characters play into his life.

A Girl Like You is Book 2 in the Magnolia Sound Series. It definitely can be a stand a lone but I highly recommend that you read them in order as I think you'll get more appreciation from this series as a whole if you do. Plus it's a great series. Sam Westbrook inherited a landscaping business from his grandfather and his counting down the days until his year is up until he can sell it and leave Magnolia Sound. He's tired of being under what he feels is the constant mistrustful eyes of the townspeople. Though he's earned their distrust from his youth. Shelby Abbott the town librarian and preacher's daughter never thought she would catch the eye of Sam Westbrook. She was completely shocked when she went out with a girlfriend to a bar in a neighboring town and she had all his attention. I just loved watch Shelby grow in this book and how she and Mason both made Sam realize that not all the townspeople did not see him the way that he thought they did. I also loved the way Shelby not only stood up for herself but for those she cared about. Love that girl! Sam came through when it mattered the most! I absolutely love these two together! I can't wait for Mason's story. I have a feeling it's going to be my favorite.

Book 2 in the Magnolia Sound series brings us back to the quaint little town with Sam & Shelby's story. Sam is forced to move back to town when he inherits his great-grandfather's landscaping business. Unfortunately for Sam the business is keeping him in Magnolia Sound when all he wants is to leave this town behind. Due to some foolish mistakes he made when he was younger he doesn't believe the town can look at him as the grown man he is now and not the hellion he used to be. Shelby is the preacher's daughter shy and sweet, town good girl who's tired of her sheltered life. A chance encounter between the two will change life as they both know it. You really need to read this book and go on this journey with them as NOBODY writes small town romance better than the AMAZING Ms.Chase. We also get to see some more glimpses into Colton and Susanna's relationship which is still in it's early stages so I'm really looking forward to reading about them in a future book as well as Mason. I was given an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion of this book and I would definitely recommend this book and I CAN'T WAIT to read the next book in the series.

OMG, I want to LIVE in Magnolia Sound! Discovering the town and the people throughout the series so far has been so much fun, but I have to admit, I couldn't WAIT for Sam's story. Stuck moving back to Magnolia Sound to fulfill his great-grandfather's final wishes, Sam is counting down the days until he can leave - then he meets Shelby. And can I just say, she was the PERFECT heroine for Sam! Great read, great series. Perfect for a day at the beach!

Great Read!! I loved Sam and Shelby’s story! Shelby is a strong, independent woman with a mind of her own. Even as a preachers daughter she stood her ground when it came to her feelings for Sam. Sam made my heart hurt because all he wanted was acceptance from the town and to do the right thing by Shelby but no one would give him a break. This story was inspirational and sexy, romantic and realistic. I couldn’t put it down! Can’t wait to read Mason’s story!

Sam and Shelby’s story in A Girl Like You, book two in Samantha Chase’s Magnolia Sound series is an emotional and heartwarming tale of forgiveness, acceptance, redemption and maturing. Every summer Sam Westbrook would visit his great-grandfather and the town of Magnolia Sound with his twin sister and mother. Since the death of his great-grandfather and being forced to move to the town, Sam believes that the town remembers and judges him as the immature and a hell-raiser that he was, not the adult he has become. He will just have to learn how to deal with it and prove the doubters wrong in order to get his inheritance. Shelby Abbott has always been the “good girl”, staying in her comfort zone, and pleasing her parents. After all, she’s the pastor’s daughter and after all these years, she is ready to shed that image. She’s heard the wild stories about Sam so imagine her surprise when Sam, the Sam Westbrook, wants to spend time with her. She was not prepared for that. However, Sam has changed. He is not the wild, carefree man she expected; he is caring, protective, and hard working. Sam has always said that he would only be in Magnolia Sound as long as he needed to be. As much as Shelby wants to change, she not’s ready to have just a fling with Sam. Poor Sam. He couldn’t get out of his own head that he deserved a second chance from the people of the town. Especially since only he was treated that way, not those who were with him at the time. Sam worked hard to help clean up the town and return it to its gloried, pre-hurricane status. It was fate that Shelby was the perfect girl for him. I admired how strong Shelby became and how she stood up to her parents and the town on their judgmental ways to remind them that Sam was a new person, a changed person, and worthy of a second chance. Shelby was definitely the girl Sam needed in order to become a better person, one he was proud to be. Ms. Chase wrote a wonderful and emotional story that is not to be missed. She provided a tale rich with sexual chemistry, amusing banter, and endearing characters giving Sam and Shelby the love and strength they needed. I highly recommend A Girl Like Me to other readers and I can't wait to read more about this family from Magnolia Sound and see what else is in store for us readers. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

4.25 stars--A GIRL LIKE YOU is the second instalment in Samantha Chase’s contemporary, adult MAGNOLIA SOUND romance series focusing on the Westbrook family of Magnolia Sound, North Carolina. This is town bad-boy and landscaper, and librarian / pastor’s daughter Shelby Abbott’s story line. A GIRL LIKE YOU can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary. Told from dual third person perspectives (Shelby and Sam) A GIRL LIKE YOU follows Sam Westbrook, in the aftermath of his great grandfather Ezekiel’s death, and the subsequent inheritance of Ezekiel Coleman’s landscaping business. When Hurricane Amelia destroyed a large portion of Magnolia Sound, Sam Westbrook found himself working diligently for the business, of which, he wanted nothing to do. A caveat of his great grandfather’s will forced our hero to remain in Magnolia Sound for one year otherwise he loses the business to his cousin Mason. Meeting Shelby Abbott found Sam focusing on a possible future in Magnolia Sound, but a future that began to crumble before it all began. What ensues is the building relationship and romance between Shelby and Sam, and the potential fall-out as sins from the past try desperately to push Sam out of Shelby’s life. Sam Westbrook no longer lived or worked in Magnolia Sound. A lifetime of sins, boyhood pranks, and teenaged misbehaving had not endured our hero to the people of Magnolia Sound. Memories ran deep, forgiveness came at a price, a price that would force Sam to walk away from the woman he loved. Shelby Abbott is the preacher’s daughter, and thusly she found herself oft-times focusing on the loneliness of doing good, all the time, Meeting Sam Westbrook stirred something deep within our story line heroine, something she hadn’t felt in a very long time. The relationship between Sam and Shelby is one of immediate attraction but Sam doesn’t recognize our heroine the first time they meet. Believing she wasn’t worthy of Sam’s playboy reputation, Shelby once again begins to withdrawal into herself until she discovers that Sam’s attraction is a palpable as hers. The $ex scenes fade to black and are mostly implied. There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including Sam’s twin sister Mallory and her fiancé Jake (Remind Me #1); their cousin Mason Bishop; Sam and Mallory’s mother Susannah Coleman and her boyfriend Colton ; Shelby’s parents Steve and Caroline Abbott; her best friend and co-worker Laney as well as an assortment of small-minded townies who do not forgive or forget very easily. A GIRL LIKE YOU is a story of condemnation and forgiveness; family and friendship; struggle, acceptance, and love. The premise is sweet and entertaining; the romance is charming and engaging; the characters are likable, colorful and energetic. A GIRL LIKE YOU is a delightful story readers are sure to enjoy.

I'm in love with this small coastal town, Magnolia Sound. This is the second book in thenseries but can be read as a stand alone. Meet bad boy, Sam that is stuck in Magnolia Sound after inheriting his great grandpa's landscaping business. Meet good girl, Shelby the town librarian, preacher's daughter. They both want to be the opposite of what they are, but will it last more the year that Sam is here in Magnolia Sound. Loved this story!! Loved how Shelby, became the person that she really always wanted to be and not afraid to stand up to her parents. Loved how Sam, finally found his happy place in Magnolia Sound. A wonderful romance that I could not put down. I still need real ice cream!! I highly recommend this book, can't wait to read Mason's story.

This book was an absolute pleasure to read. It is equal parts Sexy, Sweet, Adorable and Heartwarming. Sam and Shelby are just the sweetest couple and I loved being on the ride as they found their HEA. Sam is back in Magnolia Sound for one year to run the landscaping business his great grandfather left to him. He had to leave his life in Virginia which he really did not want to do in order to do that and now that he is back, he is having a hard time escaping the reputation he had when he was younger. Shelby is a hometown girl and works as a librarian. When they first meet at a bar, Sam has no idea who Shelby is, but he is immediately smitten. They may not appear to be a good match on the surface, but as they get to know each other, there couldn't be a more perfect match. I enjoyed watching their relationship grow so much! They just needed to get over a few small speed bumps to get there. Love this story, Love Sam and Shelby and Love this series! I totally can't wait for Mason's story next!!

What a Phenomenal vacation read! Samantha Chase’s latest release, A Girl Like You is the second full novel in her latest Magnolia Sound series. I loved every word. When Sam Westbrook’s, great-grandfather left Sam his landscaping business in his will with the stipulation that Sam lives in Magnolia Sound for one year. Sam was a bit of a wild child growing up, and truthfully, still has a bit of the wild child still inside him. However, for the most part, he has grown up into a wonderful, upstanding man. He just wishes that the people of Magnolia Sound would quit holding his past transgressions against him and start seeing him for the man he has become, especially the pastor. Which is why, Sam cannot wait to leave the dust, or rather, the sand of Magnolia Sound behind and move back home. Well, that is until he meets Shelby Steele in the bar that night, and they become totally captivated by each other as days go by. The problem, the dear pastor is her father!!! I have to say this, I REALLY did not care for Shelby’s parents, the pastor and his wife!!! I will just say this; the good pastor and his wife need to LIVE what they preach!!! I really liked reading this story and finding out what happens between Shelby and Sam. Watching them overcome people’s opinions and growing as a couple. Ms. Chase has in my humble opinion, outdone herself yet again with this wonderful book. I cannot wait to read Mason’s story, which is coming out at the end of July!!! EEK, I can’t wait. Thank you, Ms. Chase for sharing your wonderful talents as a writer and storyteller with your readers. Thank you for reading my review. Now, what are you waiting for, go hit that purchase button at your favorite retailer. I did!! I loved this book so much, I already bought the Audio version so I can listen to it as well!!!

This is another story from Magnolia Sound. The Westbrook family we met in Sun Kissed Days and Remind Me continues to grow. This is Sam Westbrook’s story. Sam is being forced to stay in Magnolia Sound to carry out his great-grandfather’s last wishes. He left Sam the landscaping business and it is all Sam can do to put in the year required. Shelby Abbott is the preacher’s daughter. She’s always done the right and expected thing…until she falls for the town bad boy. Except the bad boy has grown up into a decent man and Shelby wants everyone to know it. Can their new love help overcome years of expectations on both of them? Another can’t-put-down story from Samantha Chase. Can’t wait for Mason’s story…

This one just made my heart full of good feelings and left me with a smile. I just knew grumpy Sam was full of so much goodness but when he met Shelby Abbott he was floored and she left him nervous and tongue tied. She may be the pastor's daughter and the head librarian but Sam brings out the real Shelby and she blossoms and comes into her own. I definitely recommend this one and I'm not telling you anything else about it, just grab a copy and read it, you will not be disappointed! **Received this ARC for review**

Heartwarming & Charming! I am in Love with this series and have been since the beginning. Samantha Chase is an excellent writer with books that ooze heart felt goodness and she continues to capture my heart and soul a little more with each book in this series. Sam Westbrook’s just can’t seem to shake his past reputation of being the bad boy, in the small town of Magnolia Sound. Forced to move there after he inherits a landscaping business from his Great Grandfather that stipulates he must stay for a year, was not what he had planned to do with his life. But although his business is thriving, and everyone is pleased with his work no one will let his past be forgotten. So to get away, from it all, him and his cousin Mason go to a bar in another town where he literally bumps into her! Shelby Abbott is the shy, librarian and the pastor’s daughter in Magnolia Sound. Shelby has always been the good girl. So tired of her boring life, her friend and her head to a bar away from Magnolia Sound, where maybe she can leave her image behind and take a walk on the wild side. And then she bumps into him! For years she had heard all about him. But after talking, dancing and a kiss Shelby leaves Sam without so much as a phone number. Never imaging that he would want to contact her again. Shelby is the complete opposite of what Sam is used to. Will he find her? Will the people of Magnolia Sound finally see the good guy in Sam? Or will he give up his business and leave? You will have to read this to find out. Don’t miss this series! Absolutely brilliant, beautiful, emotional and surprising, you will simply love Sam and Shelby’s journey.

A Girl Like You proves that stories are at their most compelling when the author keeps it simple. Sam and Shelby, represent a little piece of every heart that dares to dream, but fears the outcome. Sam is bad boy intent on being good. Shelby is a good girl that yearns to taste how it feels to be bad. When the angel takes a walk on the wild side, is when the drama really begins. Can two misfits survive small town gossip, while taking a chance on love? Chase brings a little slice of heaven down to earth in every rainbow that she writes. Her stories brighten every heart they touch.
