A Harmony for Steve: Part 4 of the Song of Suspense Series by Hallee Bridgeman

HARMONY and STEVE draw closer and spiritual war wages when heaven meets hell.

Christian contemporary singing sensation, daughter of Christian radio and media family counselor icons, HARMONY HARPER, has spent her entire life serving God. From teen sensation to celebrated adult Christian contemporary music artist, she regularly plays sold-out concerts everywhere she goes. Nearing thirty, and nearing burnout, Harmony heads to her mountain cabin hideaway to commune with Christ and compose some new music.

Hard rocker STEVE SLAYER faces an ultimatum: keep rocking life the hard way and watch his organs fail due to addictions, or, sober up – for real this time – and live. Hiding out in the mountains of Oregon, he spends weeks detoxing. Finally strong enough to venture into town, he comes face to face with Harmony. Over the next several weeks, the two become unlikely friends as Steve learns to love and trust God, and mutual attraction surprises them both.

Once news of their budding romance reaches the world, no one is happy. Not her people – not his people. Then letters written in blood start arriving. An attack on a concert threatens more than just their lives. Harmony and Steve realize the threats might just be real.

Can Harmony and Steve discover who wants to destroy them, or will the enemy bring their house down in a dissonance that strikes at their very souls?

A Harmony for Steve by Hallee Bridgeman is a fourth book in her Song of Suspense series. I didn't realize it was part of a series until I was almost through and I came across some things that made me wonder if there was more to the backstory of some of the characters...so that being said, it is easily read as a stand-alone novel. Harmony is a contemporary Christian singer who lives out her faith in Christ in her everyday life. Steve is the lead singer in a hard rock band who lives out his life stoned on drugs and alcohol. A crisis in each of their lives finds them each headed to separate cabins in the same woods, one to recoup, the other to dry out. They meet unexpectedly and a relationship begins, one that is frowned on by both her family and his band. Is there any way this relationship can ever blossom into romance? And what about all the hate letters that are written in blood? Will they ever be safe? Who is behind the evil that has come against Harmony and her family? The author tells a fabulously profound and poignant story of redemption and restoration, of recovery and reconciliation. The characters are strong and evocative, characters portrayed realistically with all their flaws and their strengths. The story flows quickly, with a fair amount of suspense, action, romance, and some twists and turns to keep the pages turning. This well-written, sometimes gritty tale brings to light the very real truth of spiritual warfare--the struggle of good and evil, God and Satan, and the need for Christians to be mighty in their faith. At the end of the book, Bridgeman has a list of discussion questions to encourage further thought and understanding about the issues brought up in the novel. Another fun section included in the book is that of a Suggested Menu to enjoy if one is hosting a discussion group. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Book Club network. A favorable review was not required and opinions are my own.

A Harmony for Steve is book four in the Song of Suspense Series. I’ve loved this series so A Harmony for Steve was a must have in my personal library. Although it’s been awhile since I read the last book, I had no trouble jumping back in. I think what I found most impressive in this book was the topics Hallee Bridgeman broached. A Satanic heavy metal band with a scary group of followers, drug and alcohol addiction, and the struggle of going outside the safety of Christian protection in Harmony’s music career. Harmony Harper is a godly woman who lives the Christian life by her devotion and love for terminally ill children as well as her music dedicated to worshipping God. She dares to have her music hit the pop charts with crossover albums and even commits to a concert where the band Abaddon is playing. Her run in with Steve Slayer isn’t a good one, but she manages to sing for God anyway. Her music touches Steve right where it needs to, eventually bringing him to his knees. But his followers aren’t happy about the transition and his newfound love for God. I loved the heartiness of this book and the realism it portrayed about the life inside and outside of Christianity. Already a fan of Hallee Bridgeman, A Harmony for Steve was a welcomed addition to her books and I would absolutely recommend it. I received the book from the author and The Book Club Network.

Amazon.com describes Ms. Bridgeman by the following: “With more than half a million sales, Hallee Bridgeman is a best-selling Christian author who writes action-packed romantic suspense focusing on realistic characters who face real world problems. Her work has been described as everything from refreshing to heart-stopping exciting and edgy.” Harmony and Steve are the two main characters in this book. Harmony is a Christian singer who spends her life singing and serving God. Steve is in a rock band that is anything but a Christian band. In fact, his band shuns and laughs in the face of faith. But Steve is given an ultimatum—change his tune or he is likely to die. He needs to stop partying as the next party he goes to may be the last one he goes to. Steve decides to become sober and in his quest to do that comes in contact with Harmony. Can these two, an unlikely pair, have something in common? Can the find common ground? Can Steve really leave behind drugs, alcohol, partying and come clean in his life? God can work in mysterious ways and this book if proof that God can work miracles in believers and non-believers alike. This is a must read. Thank you for the opportunity to read this book. I received a copy of this book from bookfun.org in exchange for an honest review.

A Harmony for Steve was quite different from other books by Hallee Bridgeman that I have read. The two hit singers are both strong well-written characters. The story of Steve's salvation and God's forgiveness was great. However, the descriptions of satanic worship were a bit too descriptive for me which is the reason I did not give a higher rating. I received this e-book through The Book Club Network. This is my honest opinion of the book.

HARMONY FOR STEVE the 4th book in the series Song of Suspense by Hallee Bridgeman . We meet Harmony, who comes from a family of many talents, forming Harper Enterprises, and all seem to blend together. As her brother Franklin as her manager for her singing career. She also volunteer at the hospital for critical children. As heart wrecking to do this, she prays for strength to endure it. This is something she feels God wants her to do. As is the direction she feels to change her venue of singing. This causing tension with Franklin. Needing solitude she retreats to a cabin , and meeting Steven, who she feels God leading her to help him. The road hasn't been easy for him, after losing a sister, folks blaming him for it. Turning to drugs, and wanting a life without the pain. A great story that deal with following Gods calling for ones life.Others might not understand, yet for them to support you . To understand what turned Steven to what he was , since he left home at 17. To give him help, understanding, and time to change. A great story, for all to read, with a lot of insight for one to ponder. Given ARC for my voluntary review and given my honest opinion.

Ms. Bridgeman's best yet, A Harmony for Steve will keep you on the edge of your seat and tingle your toes with sweet romance, all while strengthening your faith. God-orchestrated circumstances bring together popular Christian music singer, Harmony, and Steve, lead singer of a satanistic hard rock band. After Steve's miraculous conversion, he and Harmony fall in love, putting a chain of events into motion that only God could use for good. Hallee Bridgeman delves into the world of satan worship and its futility when matched with God's victorious power and might. This is a book you will not be able to put down once you have cracked it open. When finished, these characters will live in your heart long after, strengthening your own faith through their courageous, God inspired story. A must read for fans of Hallee Bridgeman or anyone searching for an enjoyable romantic suspense read. I received this book from The Book Club Network in exchange for my honest opinion.

Harmony for Steve This is the second book I have read in Songs of Suspense and I enjoyed it just as much as i did the first one. It is part of a series, but does not need to be read as such as it stands well on its own. This might be a little too graphic for some of my followers, but I believe we need these types of books that are not afraid to open our minds to the ways of the evil one. Alcohol, drugs and women abuse are part of it. We need these to grow closer to Jesus, and also to know what to pray for when we think of our young people. There were many times I had to put the story aside as I was reading. Just to take a breathe and then I did realize that though Steve and Melody were in trouble, it was fiction and they would be all right no matter the outcome of the story. Evil is creepy. Evil is real. And we need to realize that not all is as it seems. I admire Melody because she did not let the opinions of others deter her from her own convictions. This is truly a redemption story, one of forgiveness and mercy. Thank you to Chris and Fred from The Book Fun Bookclub, and Hallee Bridgeman, author for the opportunity to read this eBook. I was not required to write a review, and the opinions are my own.

The first time Harmony Harper meets Steve “Slayer” Strayer, he is so stoned he barely knows his own name and he manages to spill beer down the front of her outfit right before she takes the stage at a benefit concert for childhood cancer. Harmony and Steve are both megastars in their own right, but Harmony sings to glorify God while Steve’s music does exactly the opposite. His band, Abaddon, glorifies hell and his most rabid fans worship satan. The second time Harmony meets Steve, she has gone to her mountain cabin for some R & R. She’s there to grieve the death of one of her young cancer patient friends and to try to get her passion for music back. He’s there to detox – again – only this time it needs to stick. His organs are failing because of his drug and alcohol abuse. Either he quits or he dies. When he meets Harmony in the grocery store, he has no recollection of ever meeting her before. She on the other hand, can’t forget their first meeting and comparing Steve Slayer to Steve Strayer. Can someone as evil as Slayer be redeemed? As Harmony and Steve spend time together, they realize all that they have in common and Harmony’s faith in God reaches into the depths of Steve’s heart, starting him on a path that drastically changes his life outlook. When Steve decides to enter professional rehab at a Christian facility, his people are NOT happy. When Harmony returns to her family and they learn she’s been spending time with Slayer, they’re not happy either. When death threats against Harmony begin arriving, written in blood, Harmony and Steve must work together to solve the mystery of who could possibly want her dead. As I read this book I kept thinking about how often you hear of Christian recording artists who are brought low by their own actions – be it adultery, addiction, or whatever. It seems that the stronger their witness for Christ, the harder the devil attacks. Harmony’s attacks were more for her effect on Steve than because of her witness but the end result is the same. As I Peter 5:8 says, “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” The spiritual warfare depicted in this book is very real and the scenes containing satan worship are chilling. The firmer Steve stands in his newfound faith, the more vicious the attacks on both of them. Can they triumph together when no one they know believes in Steve’s life change? This book has something for nearly everyone. There’s romance, suspense, music, family, mountain cabins and glorious vistas beautifully described. It’s a fairly quick read and I, for one, enjoyed the time spent. I received this book through bookfun.org and volunteered to review it for them.

You won't want to put it down! Harmony Harper and Steve Slayer are musicians with nothing in common other than music, until a chance encounter brings their paths closer than they would ever think. I had only a vague idea of the plot before I read this, so was able to read it with few expectations. I was blown away. This is seriously the best book of the series, in my opinion. In fact, I stayed up much too late on a work night because I had to see what happened next! A Harmony for Steve is gritty, honest, raw, and real. As Steve battles real life demons like addictions, he has no idea of the spiritual ones simmering from his past. Meanwhile, Harmony must battle her loved ones who think they know best for her in order to do what she feels called to do. As their friendship slowly develops, outside forces are already working to tear them apart. Only with the help of their family and friends and their faith are they able to overcome the battle. Despite having a "dark" theme of spiritual warfare, this redemption story is a breathtaking example of the Lord's overwhelming love for us, His children.

Christian author, Hallee Bridgeman, has absolutely outdone herself in writing the romantic suspense novel A Harmony for Steve. I have read all of Hallee’s books, and I am not sure what I was expecting before I began reading this novel, but my breath was taken away in the first few chapters with the storyline of the book. The characters are well developed and encounter true life suspense adventurers. Harmony Harper, who comes from a strong Christian family, has led a sheltered life giving her heart to the Lord at an early age and sees the potential good in all things and people. She has devoted her life to serving God by singing contemporary Christian music which is now making the pop charts to the concern of her manager brother. Steven Slayer, on the opposite end, has experienced a traumatic childhood and turns to hard rock music singing lead for the famous band, Abaddon, glorifying the evil one, Lucifer, who is the enemy of God. Even though he actually deep down believes in God and does not worship satan, his lifestyle glorifies this evil being and draws many followers into the evil realm of satanism. In a drunken and drug induced stupor, Steve hears Harmony sing Amazing Grace which convicts his soul and begins his journey of redemption and their relationship. I loved how the love of Jesus was wound throughout the story line of the book and not just in a few places. Sometimes we forget that Jesus died for all sinners, and God’s redemption is not only for the young, as Harmony who was saved at an early age, but for the blackest of sinners, like Steve, who have led a life pleasing and glorifying the evil one. It’s been a while since the last book was written in this series. A Harmony for Steve is the fourth in the The Song of Suspense series and was well worth the wait to read. I received a copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.
