What a great story. A wonderful storyline full of emotions, mystery, intrigue, romance, and strong heroes and heroines that get the job done. It captured my attention from the beginning and held my rapt interest until the end. I love the small town and the feeling of friendship and family you get while reading. It is well written and makes you feel that you are there with friends. The characters are captivating and well developed. I can't wait for the next story from this author. As with all her books she writes of real issues that exist in todays world in a very positive way. I received this book as a gift and voluntarily give this review.

This book jumps out of the gates emotion and suspense. I didn't make it through the first chapter without my tissues. I was left aching for Sterling and wanting to kick his butt. Who gives up on love? Really?? Well, true to Tessa's everyday level of excellence, we ride along as Sterling forges ahead with his plans and the aftermath of his decisions. Can Emma hang on? Will she be able to weather the storm to help him figure out his true mission? Another wonderful book by Tessa Layne. Resolution Ranch is on its way and I can't wait to see who it helps heal next!

ARC for honest review with no compensation A Hero’s Heart: Restoration Ranch is book 2 in the Flint Hills Military Heroes series by Tessa Layne and what a way to continue this series bringing back one of Prairie’s favorite sons. Sterling Walker is a retired Army Captain and one of Prairie’s own boys decides to return home after getting a call from Travis to join Restoration Ranch, a ranch designed to help veterans to ease back into life after leaving the military and all they have seen and done during war times. But when his childhood friend and biggest rival shows up at the ranch to help with marketing and fundraising for the ranch little does he realize that she is what helped him along the way to become the man he is today… Emma Sinclaire, a rising media star and hometown Prairie daughter has agreed to help do the marketing and fundraising for Restoration Ranch. Little does she know that she must work closely with her childhood friend and rival Sterling, who she has always had a crush on until they meet in the boardroom and she can’t deny the attraction is still their… Can these two find a way to work together without one upping and bring the much needs funds to the ranch or will the battle of wills be the downfall of them and the ranch??

A Hero's Heart: Resolution Ranch (Flint Hills Military Heroes Book 2) by Tessa Layne This is Sterling Walker and Emma Sinclaire’s story.   This is a great and beautifully written story.  Sterling has issues that he hasn’t dealt with and promises to never marry after losing a good friend.  He doesn’t want to put a woman through what his good friend’s wife and child is having to endure.  Sterling returns home to Resolution Ranch and ends up working with Emma.  Emma and Sterling go way back and he used to love teasing and aggravating her.   He worries that he went too far and wants Emma to know that he has changed.  Sterling’s friends used to tease him that Emma was the one that got away.  Will Sterling stick to his vow to never marry or will he take a chance on finding true love?   I loved Sterling and Emma’s story.  Their journey wasn’t an easy one but was an amazing ride.  I enjoyed the supporting characters and their story too.  The author did a wonderful job of incorporating awareness of grief after losing someone important and the issues that military personnel and their families deal with when getting back to life outside of the service.   FYI, contains mature content. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Sterling Walker, a retired Army Ranger, is invited by Travis to be the foreman of Resolution Ranch. He is trying to come to terms with his buddy's suicide and has decided to never fall in love and have a relationship with a woman because he never wants to leave her behind if something happens. Emma Sinclaire has made a great name for herself in a promoting and is back to help raise money for Resolution Ranch. She and Sterling were always competing in junior high and high school, and didn't really get along, but was there more to it than just competing with each other? Sterling and Emma have off the charts chemistry, but with their past of competing and with Sterling's hang ups about relationships, can they ever have anything lasting together? This was a wonderfully well written and emotional addition to the Flint Hills series. I thoroughly enjoyed the characters and the story. I can't wait to see more of Flint Hills.

Another excellent read from Tessa. I loved the history and connection that Emma and Sterling have. The build up was great. The characters were realistic and well developed. The plot was fast paced, entertaining and made it hard to put this one down. You won't want to miss this one. This is the second in the series but is a standalone novel with an HEA. Can't wait to see what is next ... I received an advanced copy.

Heroes, Horses and Homecomings!!! Sterling retires from the service and returns home to join Resolution Ranch. He is godfather to Sophie and supporter of Macey her mother; both who were left behind when Johnny could not face civilian life. Sterling vows never to marry and create such sadness in others. Emma Sinclaire, sole daughter of Prairie’s oldest family does not expect to run into her nemesis at Resolution Ranch, nor imagine working closely with him in a critical fund-raiser. Past history, current issues and career versus personal life all play a role in this engaging story!! *** I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book ***

Captain Sterling Walker is a West Point graduate and former Army Ranger whose career was cut short by an injury that occurred in a training exercise. He didn’t want to spend the rest of his Army career sitting at a desk, so he retired. He was unsure as to what direction his life would take, but the last place he wanted to be was at a funeral for a fellow Ranger. He would never understand how his friend Johnny could have left his wife and young daughter alone when he had such a perfect life. Sterling vowed to never fall in love because it would only end in heartbreak. After the funeral, Sterling received a phone call from a friend from his hometown of Prairie, Kansas. Travis Kincaid was the former Police Chief who was now involved with establishing a ranch for veterans where they could ease back into society, and he offered Sterling the job as Foreman at the ranch. Sterling was reluctant to take the job, but he decided to accept the position in Johnny’s memory so no more families would be left alone. He would devote all of his time to helping the veterans and spending time with old friends, with absolutely no time for romance. Or so he thought… Emma Sinclaire is also a Prairie native who now lives and works in Kansas City for a media company. She was friends with Sterling in high school, but he never asked her out. He teased her, competed against her, drove her crazy, and made her cry. He was such a player back then and she was sure he hadn’t changed at all, so she would certainly never trust him again. Emma loved being in Prairie for the holidays, visiting her family and hanging out with her girlfriends. She was also looking forward to working with Travis on fundraising ideas for Resolution Ranch. She would do anything to help veterans. It was New Year’s Eve and everyone in town was celebrating at the Trading Post. Emma was looking at the songs on the jukebox when one of her girlfriends poked her in the side and told her to turn around. It was Sterling, and he looked incredibly hot and dreamy, but she wanted nothing to do with him. Of course, he sauntered over to her with his sexy smile and confident swagger. He apologized for being a jerk in high school and asked her if they could start over as friends. Emma didn’t know why he was being so nice to her, but she would soon find out. Can Sterling and Emma put aside their differences to work together to make the Resolution Ranch Fundraiser a success? Or will their past prevent them from working as a team? Will Emma realize that Sterling has changed and give him a second chance? “A Hero’s Heart” is the second book in the Resolution Ranch Series by Tessa Layne. The companion series, Cowboys of Flint Hills, also takes place in Prairie. This series revolves around military heroes and their return home to the small town. Sterling is fearless, determined and a loyal friend to everyone. He returned to Prairie a different man than when he left, but he knew that with Emma by his side, he would never be alone. I love this series because it highlights how important veterans are to our workforce and our communities. Tessa is a passionate and talented author and I am looking forward to the next book in the series, “A Hero’s Haven.”

When Sterling Walker's friend and fellow wounded warrior Johnny, commits suicide leaving his devoted wife Macey, and young daughter Sophie, to deal with their devastating loss. Sterling become very upset at Johnny's funeral and he vows never to get involved in a serious relationship with a women ever again. Yet when Sterling returns home after being offered the job of foreman at Restoration Ranch and becomes reacquainted with Emma Sinclaire he finds it more than a little difficult to keep his vow. Emma was the one Sinclair always measure himself up too. Their competitive nature's always had them at logger heads. When Sinclair sees Emma again he is thrown by the intense chemistry between the two of them. Will Sterling and Emma fight their attraction to each other, do they even want too, that is the question? A Hero's Heart is a good story about good people. It is one that is meant to be read. I received this advanced copy and I am freely posting this fair and balanced review
