This series just grabs you and pulls you in. This book was about Cam and Hunter. Julian and Matt are back along with Sam. Julian with his sense of humor and Matt the caring caretaker. There was some mystery, suspense along with humor and a love story. Found myself not wanting to put this book down I was so drawn into the story. Cam and Hunter's love story was so romantic. Cam was broken in a way that left him unsure and feeling very guilty. Hunter was an attorney, strong, confident and very sure of himself. He did everything he could for Cam to move on. Very touching story. I love how Jaime Reese writes so beautifully with so much emotion. You just become part of the book as your reading. Can't wait for book 3. I was given this in return for an honest review by Inked Rainbow Reads. Sherry
4.5 Stars I was completely drawn in from page one. Cameron’s pain and fear jumped off the page. He was little more than a kid when he was sent to prison. His panic attacks had me holding my breath. Then we meet Hunter. Just turned 40, all he does is work. The instant connection he has with Cameron rocks him to his core. Cam and Hunter together- hot DAMN! It’s not just the sexy stuff though. It’s the hand holding, the kissing, the touching, the blushing, soft words, gentle hugs and the circles Hunter makes on Cam’s back to calm him. It’s all of it. A true old fashioned romance. We get a front row seat to watch two amazing people falling in love. Add to all of that an incredible support system of friends and family, including the amazing Sam. Again I love Julian and Matt. The way Julian is able to push and engage Cameron without scaring him is stunning. A mystery to solve and drama to recover from. An engaging story about making every day count, giving trust and accepting love. Can’t wait to see whose story is next in the Men of Halfway House Series.
This is the second installment of The Men of Halfway House....A Hunted Man by Jaime Reese! Cameron Pierce has survived his 10 years in prison and now he must try to put his past behind him which is no easy task. Now that he is a free man he must adjust to the outside life which brings him to the halfway house and a job. The one thing he has learned in prison is that hope can be a very dangerous thing to strive towards. Hunter Donovan is the Assistant State Attorney and he loves nothing more than a challenge except maybe justice. He has dedicated his life to his career and now that his career is thriving, he has come to realize how lonely he actually is. When Hunter meets Cameron everything in his world is about to change. Young Cameron awakens things in Hunter that he has never experienced before and this opens his heart to love. Cameron's past comes back and it threatens their new blossoming relationship and might possibly be too much for them to endure. Now Cameron's hope for a fresh new start and a happy and loving future doesn't look as bright. Will the outside forces that are hunting Cameron to send him back to prison be able to catch him or will Hunter protect and defend the man he loves? I was very happy to see Matt and Julian from book 1 in The Men of Halfway House but they are secondary characters but so nice to see them again. I loved the beautiful bond that Cameron and Hunter developed as I was glued to their connection and to see how much they cared for each other. The author wrote these characters in such an emotional and brilliant way that I couldn't wait to see what happens next. I fell in love with Cameron and Hunter and was so rooting for them and I felt very protective of their characters, especially when outside forces were trying to break them up and take Cameron away from his beloved Hunter. I adored how Hunter becomes so emotionally committed to Cameron but Cameron has a hard time expressing himself to Hunter as he's afraid that Hunter will disappear with his heart. I loved that the author introduced new characters in this 2nd book as it's always fun getting to know her characters. Hunters father is quite the most amazing father ever, the way he loves his son unconditionally and even cares deeply for Cameron also. I just love his father and how his character brings so much much love and caring to the men was so brilliantly and well written. I highly recommend this beautifully written love story to anyone who loves reading about M/M love, hot sex, redemption, trust, loyalty, drama and brilliant and I mean brilliant writing! My Review: 4.4 Star Review - A Hunted Man I received the book for an honest review. Romance between Cameron Pierce and Hunter Donovan. You get a few characters from the first book in this series. Matt, Sam, and Julian. This story has romance, & Suspense in the story. Cameron was released after 10 years in jail. Hunter is Asst. States Attorney and more patient then anyone I know. These two have great heat. Was not sure that Cam was going to give Hunter a chance with his past but he came around. When I saw the amount of pages I thought that the book might be too long but it was perfect. The story kept you turning the pages until the very end.
