I was a little hesitant to try this series, but I do love a good mystery, especially with an ongoing/continuing story line. I was pleasantly surprised and I really enjoyed the writing style. It took just a bit to re-adjust to the time period of the early eighties, but definitely lends some character to the book. It was a pretty quick read, easy to put down and pick back up for short reading bursts. I plan on reading all the books in the Kinsey Millhone Series, which will provide for some great summer reading. If you like James Patterson & Women's Murder Club Series, you'll definitely enjoy this.

Kinsey Millhone, a private investigator, starts off accepting a case from Nikki. Nikki was just released from prison for allegedly murdering her husband eight years ago. Nikki hires Kinsey to stir up old evidence and track down people who might be witnesses from eight years ago. Nikki¿s husband was a lawyer in Santa Teresa, and died from putting poison in his medication for allergies. Kinsey tracks down the lawyers ex wife and there kids, old buddies and business partners, and old lovers. Kinsey keeps the reader excited and guessing throughout the book. Eight years is a long time, but not long enough to make people worried and find out who really poisoned Nikki¿s husband. This is an excellent book from the start, and then to the thrilling ending. I recommend this book to all people that love to read.

"My name is Kinsey Millhone. I'm a private investigator, licensed by the state of California, I'm thirty-two years old, twice divorced, no kids. I don't have pets, I don't have houseplants I spent a lot of time on the road and I don't like leaving things behind. Aside from the dangers of my profession my life has always been ordinary, uneventful and good. I meet most people in the course of my work, and if I can't get emotionally involved there, then where else can I go? P.I. is my whole life, most of the time I'm alone, but why not? I'm not unhappy and I'm not discontented" K. Millhone. A For Alibi is astounding!!! In the first installment, Grafton's first attempt to captivate readers is a triumph, the plot is simple, Nikki Fife was convicted of killing her husband eight years ago, now on parole she hires P.I. Kinsey Millhone to find the real killer. And as Kinsey brainstorms to find the killer it becomes more difficult than she tough it was " From the first, this has been a case where motive and alibi where oddidly overlapped. Alibi: An account of the suspect's whereabouts at the time a crime has been committed and is offered up as a proof of innocence. But here it didn't matter where anyone was, it only matter if someone had a REASON to have someone else dead, access to the victim and intent to kill" A is for Alibi is a journey that takes Kinsey to cross path with a genuine cast of characters and showcases Grafton's magnificent writing style and originality for her novels. B is for Burglar is Brilliant!!! B is for Burglar features a spectacular plot. Only weeks after having faced death, Kinsey Millhones takes in a "Without a Trace" case involving Elaine Boldt, a rich widow who owns a condo in Boca Raton FL, and another in Santa Teresa. According to the manager of the California building she was last seen in her $12,000 lynx coat heading for Boca Raton, According to the manager of the Florida building, she never got there. But someone else had and she was camping out illegally in Mrs. Bolt's apartment. C is for Corpse is a thunder crash!!! And Kinsey Millhone is super. In the third installment of the alphabet series, Sue Grafton cements P.I. Kinsey Millhone as of one of the most irresistible character in a series of novels. Grafton features an out of the ordinary plot, with a few solid twist and turns that keep readers turning the pages until the last paragraph. Bobby Callahan cheated death once, and hired Kinsey to find the responsible of his murder attempt. But death can't be cheated twice and Callahan is destined to meet his maker.

Kinsey (main character) is not a super hero. She takes her licks as well as she gives them. The suspense in these books is real, not way out there or almost impossible to believe. Glad the details are not sooooo graphic, because the reader can fill in the blanks. A good read anytime, anywhere.
