A Is for Apron: 25 Fresh & Flirty Designs by Nathalie Mornu

A is for adorable and amazingly irresistible and incredibly attractive: who would have imagined that the apron, that charming and nostalgic symbol of domesticity, would become today’s must-have home accessory? But it most certainly is, as stitchers and crafters flock to these creative canvases as the perfect vehicle for showcasing fabulous fabric, simple embellishments, and novel ideas. These ingenious projects—from ultra-feminine and vintage chic to whimsical color-play—include waist and bib aprons, pinafores, smocks, cobblers, and even something for the pint-sized cook. All of the projects are photographed in a playful style. And templates, sewing basics, and quick and easy projects for sprucing up store-bought aprons and whipping up aprons from recycled materials are here too!

Love this book as I am into aprons. I LOVE THEM AND LOVE MAKING THEM! However, when going to stores to make copies of the apron patterns, workers are concerned about making copies as they think they are breaking the law so you have to show them in the book where is is OK to make copies.

I've sewn for all my life and I'm here to tell you I haven't found a more frustrating book in all my life. Had to first of all pay to have the pattern enlarged, then tried to put the apron together. Needless to say the instructions and pattern left alot to be desired. After working for 4 hours trying to figure the stupid thing out, I ventured again the next day only to have the apron turn out terrible. you had to have Dolly Parton boobs to make the apron fit! I got so frustrated I ended up cutting the bodice off and just making a waist tied apron for my daughter to wear. Maybe someone else would have better luck, but I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone, anyone I like that is.....

It's so nice to see something with such happy associations making a comeback. The book is well written and well photographed; shows projects that everyone from beginning to advanced seamstress can accomplish with a little time and patience. I am seriously considering making The Provence Smock in red toile and wearing it to greenmarket, as was suggested!

I just got this book and was excited to start on a project. The fabric yardage amounts listed are incorrect on many patterns, there are so many missing/ incorrect steps and confusing directions in this book. I looked all over online for the errata information from the publisher and they do not have any available anymore! I even sent emails to them requesting this information and they have not responded. How can you make anything without the correct information? You can't. My recommendation- try another book!

This book is a gift for my daughter. She loves aprons. I am sure she will get a lot of use out of this book. The illustrations are great and very colorful. Maybe, she'll even make one for me.
