This is an account of the authors experiences beginning in the 1960's , when many young men his age were migrating to the United Kingdom from its former Colonies in the West Indies. Starting out as a London Transport bus conductor, he quickly swapped his fare ticket machine ,for a Sterling Gun -machine, preferring a stint in the military, a life he had been introduced to back in his native land, as a member of the Barbados Regiment. He enlisted in the British Army, serving in the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers(REME) for 12 years ,stationed mostly in Germany with the British Army of the Rhine (BAOR). The highlights of his service career included two tours mainly in Belfast ,Northern Ireland in what became aptly known as 'The Troubles.'

He was attached to the elite Grenadier and Coldstream Guards, as well as the Light Infantry, The Royal Corps of Transport(RCT) and the Royal Army Medical Corps (RAMC).
