Overview

Adopted into an affluent and aristocratic family, Melinda A. Warshaw had everything a little girl could want-the best clothes, the best toys, horse riding lessons, anything else her heart desired. But what she didn't have was answers. Why was she so different from the people she lived with? Why were her most natural artistic impulses disdained and discouraged regularly by her adoptive mother? Why? Why? Profound sadness consumed the young woman, and as she sought her true identity, she dodged a sexually abusive older brother, a lecherous father, and incessant pressure from her mother to develop into the WASP image she treasured. Suffering PTSD and encountering immobilizing triggers around every corner, Melinda soldiered on. From 1947 to the present, join the author on a road to truth filled with misadventures, mistaken identites, redemption, and most of all-answers. She also tells the reader how she met Clint Eastwood who had an alleged daughter he gave up for adoption. So many secrets; so little time to solve..

About the Author

Melinda Warshaw is an outspoken adoptee and advocate for adoptee's rights. She is an artist, a musician, a writer, and a teacher like many of her biological relatives. She was born during the Baby Scoop Era, a period of time in US History where it was deemed morally unacceptable for a single woman to become pregnant and try and keep her child and there was little to no help for them to understand they went through a trauma. Thousands of young women were sent to maternity homes where they were usually forced to work while pregnant, deliver their child, and were then brainwashed to sign their babies over for adoption by parents, the clergy, or social workers representing the adoption agencies. Time frame from the late 40's through 2010 and beyond on her FB page and website.

This memoir is the result of 15 years of hard work and it is the author's hope that it edifies and informs the reader about some of the little-known negative facets of adoption in the USA such as closed adoptions, secrecy and sealed birth records leading to cPTSD due to the separation from first mother and the total loss of identity of the adoptee. She uses her wits and the paranormal to unravel the mystery of her being. If you go to her Facebook page Melinda A Warshaw A Legitimate Life you will see who she resembles and who she is like now that her step-niece helped her in August of 2017 to get the answers she needed-they connected on Ancestry after taking a DNA test and making their family trees. Better late than never. She knows her story now and has healed. Secrets can kill. Openness in adoption is the wave of the future-Austrailia is way ahead of the United States. Many adoptees are finding their bios after taking DNA tests and finding their relatives. There is no stopping us...a very healthy trend.
