I love these Liturgy Training Publications sourcebooks. They are essentially readings for each day of a given season (Lent, in this case) meant to enhance one's reflection and prayer during that season. The readings consist of quotes from famous Christians (and even some non-Christians!), poems, songs, and prayers as well as the readings from that day's Mass, all related to the theme of the day's Mass. People quoted include C.S. Lewis, Martin Luther King, Jr., T.S. Eliot, William Blake, William Shakespeare, Walker Percy, Mother Teresa, Dorothy Day, Gerard Manley Hopkins, Elie Wiesel, Thomas Merton, Peter Chrysologus, Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, St Anselm, St. Peter, G.K Chesterton, Oscar Romero, and St. Augustine, among others. Prayers come from the liturgies of The Roman Catholic Church, as well as Monastic liturgies and the liturgies of Orthodox Christian churches. Songs (only the words are printed-- not the music) come from the traditions of early American Christians, African-American spirituals, Hebrew songs, and Medieval hymns. Each day's readings and prayers are about ten pages long, but one needen't read the whole day's readings to benefit. I find this series of books to be very useful in that it focuses me on a different aspect of my faith every day, bringing light to aspects of God I had not encountered or considered before (or, at least, not often enough). The editors do an excellent job of choosing inspirational readings; they are beatiful and always thought-provoking. Though the series is written for Catholics, it would be useful to any Christian, or anyone trying to get to know God and the Church better. I highly recommend the whole series; LTP has sourcebooks for Lent, Advent, Easter, Christmas, the Triduum, marriage, and death.
